I am very anti-Duke. That said McRoberts from what I saw was by far their best player on a top 30 type team, and a very good college player in a great conference. Also, only a soph--it isn't like he is a 4 or 5 year player.

    I'd be happy with him.

Hank's rumor that there was a minor 2nd round pick deal in the work is now a fact. He's moved into the credible category for me.

I don't know Hank and I don't care about his credibility. But let's be honest. Everything that was said in his initial post had been said in the Chronicle and on RealGM.

via Jonathan Givony at DraftExpress. "There is some talk that the Lakers could have a deal in place to swap the #19 pick and Brian Cook for the #26 pick and Luther Head."

McRoberts is supposed to be a pretty good passer from the high post per Hollinger's Ranking system article on ESPN.com

BTW, he was ranked by Hollinger as the eighth most likely prospect to have a good NBA career. Remember, this dude was supposed to be a lottery pick last year if he had come out.

2007 Draft: Top 30 rated collegians, plus other notables
NO. PLAYER SCHOOL SCORE FORD'S TOP 100
    1. Kevin Durant Texas 870.7 2
    2. Greg Oden Ohio State 667.9 1
    3. Mike Conley Jr. Ohio State 637.9 7
    4. Thaddeus Young Georgia Tech 604.2 14
    5. Brandan Wright North Carolina 601.4 8
    6. Al Horford Florida 601.0 3
    7. Nick Fazekas Nevada 594.3 35
    8. Josh McRoberts Duke 566.7 26

So Hollinger has him rated at 8 while Chad Ford has him at 26.

Just wondering if this means that we're not going to like the player we get, the one/s we give up, or the total amount we pay.

My personal opinion of McRoberts is that from what I've seen of him I'm definately a little wary. Not sure if he translates to the pro game that well. He usually bullies the college players pretty well, and has a lot of hustle, but the times I've seen him go against the better 4's in college I wasn't that impressed. Hope he doesn't turn out to be Madsen++ if we get him.

If we did the trade with the Lakers I wouldn't mind picking up Almond at 19, then seeing if Dallas would give up their 1st second rounder(34?) for V-span to pick up Big Baby, then take a flyer on Herbert Hill, or a point guard prospect with the Orlando pick.

And thanks for the info Hank.

Whereas the real Vecsey would have had his posse do it for him.

It's just great having all this excitement building up inside of us, only to have a sinking feeling after the draft! It happens almost without exception, the only exception being when we have the #1 pick. :p

Which may actually be ok - my favorite draft moment was the night we made the move up for EG and then picked up TMO in the second. That was jubilee. Turns out, those moves sucked bad.

The silver lining is that perhaps my total dissatisfaction tonight might predict long-term success from this draft.

Sorry homeboy but everything you just said, I already heard it elsewhere.

Broad generalized statements are always the way to go!

    Ditto DaDa.

These scoops have always been one of the things that make our forum special.

It really is pathetic how some people just don't get it.
