Nice to hear. I've been hoping that the Rockets would trade up for McRoberts or that McRoberts would slide to #26. I haven't seen enough of McRoberts to come to a credible opinion, but I like what I've read of his skills. As has been said over and over again, they seem tailor-made for a PF in an Adelman offense.
Glen Davis' body fat: 11.7% Josh McRoberts' body fat: 13.7% Both guys have nice skills (handles, shooting) for big fat guys.
Talked to my source again this morning. Morey has been working the phones pretty heavily until late in the night, but there will not be any trades made until draft time. Everything is contingent upon where certain key players happen to fall in the draft. If they are unable to pull the trigger for whatever reason, plan "b" is to move either the pick itself, or to make a selection for the other team involved, and to package that along with current roster players for a starting 4. They are absolutely making every effort to move up in this draft though. Morey does not want to stay at 26, but he does believe that there is a player available in this draft projected to go slightly higher who could have an immediate impact. Offers have already been made and agreed upon that would send our pick and a combination of players away for the right to move up in this draft. Some of you aren't going to like how this goes down, but from what I am hearing our new GM is being fairly aggressive about all this. He's definitely not being shy about who he's willing to deal with, and on at least 2 occasions he has had ridiculous proposals made to him by older more seasoned GM's who he has basically told to piss off. It's going to be fun!
That's right mofos! You old geezers can't punk our new GM like that. Hearing Morey is being aggressive if very reassuring because that means he has guts and the balls to do crazy things. And crazy things is exactly what we need for our team right now.
Those are actually excellent, the average body fat % for their demographic is probably around 18%. Not everybody can be David Robinson...
I think it's either: a) #26, Novak, Span -> Diogu b) #26, Novak, Snyder -> Diogu c) #26, Head, Snyder -> Diogu Novak or Head is the shooter Bird wants. Spanoulis or Snyder is the expiring contract. Bird also wants a PG, but probably Koponen with the #26. If we draft Koponen with the #26, you know the Diogu trade is going through. Some sort of multi-player trade makes a lot of sense, because right now, it looks like Head and Snyder are out of the rotation, and there's only room for a couple more big men. I REALLY hope they don't pick up Sean Williams. It's impossible for me to be optimistic about someone with addiction issues working out post-Eddie Griffin. Sounds spot-on. I like Almond. Fazekas seems like a fair pick. I'm glad to see Big Baby's not mentioned. I wouldn't mind him as a second-round pick, but #26 seems too high. I hope this isn't the rumored Spanoulis to Dallas trade, but I can live with it if it goes through. Thanks for the scoop, Hank!
1. Any idea whatsoever who that Plan A "currently starting PF" is from your original post? This doesn't bode well for the Ike Diogu rumors then... 2. Is the Plan B "immediate impact player" still considered to be either McRoberts or Sean Williams? Thanks!
Hmmmm... I like Sean Williams...at #26. Giving up assets to move up and get him...I don't know. I wonder if there is anyone else on Morey's radar. It sounds like he has one or two gusy specifically targeted, which can be dangerous - fall in love, do a stupid deal for a pick who is pretty much as equally likely to blow up (good or bad) as a bunch of other picks in that range). Unless he's got some kind of Battier deal to move way up, say to late lottery, which would be fine with me, because it'd just be a round about way of trading last year's #8 for a late lotto this year, which is probably more valuable. PF has been mentioned a lot, so who could he be targeting that isn't available without moving up multiple spots: Sean Williams Thaddeus Young Jason Smith Al Thornton ...?
Sources? What a joke. He's just some dork looking for e-credibility. Everything this guy said is just a mixture of what's been spewed over the net for the last two weeks. Now if we could get something concrete like that Morey's BPA list is 1. x, 2.x, etc., than maybe you'd have something. I can't believe anyone is taking this guy seriously. Notice how he also threw out 19 possible options so that in some way his "source" will come out right. Nice effort, Peter Vecsey.
sounds legit to me, but if he's not, no big loss. since so little is on the line here, i'll just take him at face value until proven wrong.
I half expected this. Not sure why I bothered... Like I said in the first post, take it all with a grain of salt and I guess we'll see what happens. Those of you who expect me to come out and say my guy is Morey or Adelman or something like that would be very disappointed. It's nothing more than a "fly on the wall" situation and I don't pretend to have a crystal ball. As for a BPA list, if you read the post, I've pretty much done that already. I'm done. Everyone have fun tonight.
bah...I believe him. and if anyone called me Peter Vecsey in real life, I would definitely punch them in the face and thanks for the scoop, Hank
I think McRoberts won the slam dunk contest in the Mcdonalds HS All American game before he came to Duke. He's pretty athletic from what I remembered. He would have been picked a lot higher if he came out last year or even after HS. If he's anything like Troy Murphy in the NBA, I'll be so happy...
I am a little torn on C. a) and b) I would take in a millisecond. Luther + 26 for Diogu is a little borderline to me. On the one hand I don't see a lot of difference between Al Horford and Diogu coming into the draft--I saw both of them play a lot in college. On the other hand Diogu, who was very polished coming into the draft and the best player at the time in the Pac 10, has hardley established himself as starting caliber 4 and is only playing 14MPG in his career. People were tearing apart Brian Cook for low PT (in a potential Head trade), who averages 16MPG in 4 years (and 14MPG his 1st two).
Anything that makes the Rockets better, I am for.....and that includes trading V-Span or Novak..... I would prefer they trade Luther and Snyder, as I think Span and Novak fit RA system better but whatever the Rockets choose if it makes them better....then CHOO CHOO...all aboard baby !! DD
Ditto. I'm just plain not a fan of this kid for the Rockets. He also seems to often have "mental breakdowns" -- he's a very emotional player, occasionally positive, but often just seems to get depressed which totally kills his game. I'm hoping we look elsewhere.
My guess is that if you gave Shavlik Randolph an open jumper with the game on the line, he'd be screwed, too. Granted, Shavlik ain't all that, but he is a good hustle guy for the Sixers. And someone who at Duke never averaged more than 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds a game. Josh McRoberts game isn't blowing anybody out of the water, but we're talking 26th pick. He has some skills, put up decent stats (much better than Randolph, too), and played at Duke, who since Grant Hill has become a school that actually has produced a number of decent role players in the league, and a few all-star level talents (Boozer, Magette, Brand). To the extent that Fazekas is a similar player with much much better college stats, I'd probably prefer to go that route....BUT, Fazekas didn't play in the ACC either.
