A better question is why are Americans so obsessed with the British Royal family??? I know more people in the USA that are interested in the wedding on Friday than I do people-friends/relatives back there that give two sh!ts. Puzzles me to no end.
The only people I know who are interested in British royalty are chicks. I think it's because when they were little they always fantasized about marrying a prince.
Still glad that none of my tax money goes to supporting that bunch of loafers. The English Monarchy is a complete embarrassment. One scandal after another and everything handed to them on a silver spoon. Get rid of the royals and you can produce the same income via tourism off of the history and monuments such as the tower of London. There is no need to continue paying a bunch of loafers a kings wages when you can pay people a minimum wage to perform the same ceremonies for tourists. How much is the prince Williams wedding costing the tax payers? Hmmmmm.

I seriously don't get how the royals draw in tourists. I mean, do people get to meet them personally or something on the tours?
It all has to do with celebrity and how little girls in our culture grew up fantasizing about being a princess. I agree though it is ridiculous. What's worse is that according the ABC news (another sign about the sad state of journalism) is that Prince Harry is going to have an all night rager in Buckingham Palace while Queen Elizabeth and Prince Albert head out of town after the morning. It would piss me off if I knew that my tax dollars were going for Harry to have his kegger while the Grandparents were out.
