i don't like either of those scrubs. neither would contribute anything to the team other than a butt on the bench. we already have vin baker, weatherspoon, and moochie holding those positions down.

I'm just saying this is what I "think" they are going to do. Think about it. When the Rox last year had the same ME, what did they do? They split it up between two players. Now mind you Ward didn't give us anything, but in doing this they were able to pick up Sura. Who at the time was just a solid sign for the Rox. No one and I mean no one predicted he would have such an impact as he did. These are the type of players JVG likes. Low ego guys, who bust their ass every game. With Yao and T-mac here, I don't believe they are looking for anymore "Superstars", just solid roll players that can fit into the puzzle, like Sura did last year.

We already have a TON of players on contract. Roster spots are as much of a concern as the cap and money for the Rockets. Why would we take on two mediocore role players when we're already chock full of them? We take one player to get our bench under control.

D.Johnson would be fine with me too. He can be a decent backup for T-Mac and can come cheap. As much as we would like to have one impact player It's unlikely that we will get anyone with the MLE. Our expiring contracts aren't attractive IMO either.

Oh ok. It's just your opinion then. Good. I was worried for a minute.

We need all around starting quality role players (SG and PF), not back-up type role players (Songalia, Anderson, etc). All "role players" are not equivalent.

Better off using the full MLE for SAR, Swift, Marshall, Evans, Simmons (kinda Pipe Dream through) or Mobley, or most all of it for Daniels or Reggie Evans.

Late in FA we can use the vet exemption to scour the market for low priced, hard nosed, back-up type role players.

Yea why don't we do that. The Charlie Ward and Sura thing only worked because we got more out of Sura than a lot of people expected. Don't hope to get another pair of Sura type players, lets just go for one solid player. Or whatever.

Im totally against splitting the mid level exception on 2 players. We don't need more backup players, this team needs legit starters. Getting more Bob Sura and Charlie Ward types aren't gonna help this basketball team. This team needs an upgrade in talent with regard to their starting lineup at PG, SG, and PF.

you don't need him to be a good player - all you need for him to do is get rebounds and block shots (at a low cost)

... which btw, he does very well - I think he has more rebounds a game than big Stro'

I TOTALLY agree. Last year we split the MLE on Sura and Ward. We are at the stage now where QUALITY needs to take the lead over QUANTITY.

I dont want to split the MLE. I want to use it on ONE good quality role player for this team. We can always add other role players via the LLE and via trades. But use the MLE on one GOOD quality role player to be an impact on this team.
