I think it's important to remember that Jones will have lost a LOT of time and he likely won't be ready to take on many minutes for a while. I think we should just see how the DMO/Howard 4/5 looks like before making statements one way or the other.
Well it's not like Jones knows how to shoot the ball either, so it doesn't really make a difference which one starts. DMo's passing ability should make him fit with Howard.
But you lose the benefit of his post game, which (IMO) is his most valuable skill. I don't know.... I hate that idea. A lot.
Well the threat of him passing to Howard should keep the spacing decent. You could put one in the high post and one in the low post. If they double one, go to the other or out to the 3 point line. It could work. Anyway, we'll get to see it for potentially a month if Jones stays hurt. Hell you could take turns posting them up if you wanted to. I like the idea of having that size that the Lakers beat us up with when they had Pau and Bynum and I think that Dwight and DMo could be that.
I have a fewling Tjones is going to be traded. Dmo is just doing great and I feel like he is filling in Asik's shoes very nicely. Ladies and gentlemen Twin towers in Houston!
D-mo has to play a lot with the 2nd unit. those post moves would beat up on 2nd unit defenders and he could post huge numbers
I too would like a starting lineup that includes DMo with D12, however I fear we run into the same situation as last year with Asik and D12 together. The difference here though would be D12 in a diminished role off the ball. Forcing D12 in the post is only OK so much and DMo seems to have a more refined post game than Dwight. I could see Dwight playing weakside as a offensive rebounder and off the ball in pick and rolls as a secondary offense or even primary with Dmo spotting up. But that would be less efficient with DMo's percentage. But one benefit of alternating in this is that our offense would be less predictable and monotonous... Iso Iso Iso 3 3 3... Not as if any of this would happen anyway...
When Jones is fully recovered, he will be slowly eased back into the rotation. He will need some time to get into game shape and shake off the rust anyway. That will be long after Howard comes back. By then, we'll know how well DMo can play alongside Howard. On paper Howard, Motiejunas, and Jones should be our 3-man rotation at 4-5. But we need to see how each of them play with another guy. I really hope that Howard won't insist on doing isolated post play. If we play DMo with him, we can experiment on some true Twin Towers set, something like what the Grizzlies do with Randolph and Gasol.
Yes cuz Gasol plays a passers role in their offense, High/low post play and that could happen here. We have seen that Dmo is a willing and sometimes highlight type passer.
Terrence Jones was never starter material. He'll do fine with our bench unit-- they need a big with a jumper anyways. DMo should start alongside Howard.
I think DMO's passing ability is getting overlooked. Don't be surprised if we see DMO being posted up with dwight cutting to the basket or vice versa. I think McHale is starting to trust DMO in the post more and this will show when he plays with dwight. This might also be a good opportunity for DMO to improve his face up game as well
He's a better ball handler and a better finisher around the rim. Jones is one of the absolute best finishers in the entire league. Additionally he is a better per minute rebounder. Also his post game is pretty darn good. I don't know if it's better than Dmo's, but it's comparable. I agree with you on defense and ball movement, but T Jones is a really solid player. DMo has been doing this for two weeks, Jones did it all last year. Let's give it time before we make any crazy declarative statements.
Looking forward to the Dmo/Jones front court when Dwight is resting. Teams won't be able to relax anymore
This assumes Dwight is willing to compromise... I don't see that happening, but I'd love to be wrong.
Just rest Dwight a bit more - limit him to 32 MPG to keep him fresh, I used to think DMo fit with Dwight, now I am not so sure....Dwight clogs the lane and insists on posting up, which he is pretty much really bad at doing, and Dmo eats it up down there, both as a post up, and as a pick and slip player - he is shooting amazingly well down on the block. I honestly want to see how Dmo and Tjo look together..... DD
