IMHO the best situation is for D-Mo to back up both the 4 and 5. There is a warm blanket feeling about 48 minutes of paint protection. Or in my case, a warm double of Scotch. D-Mo was solid tonight, against one of the best front courts in the NBA. Anytime Randolf and Gasol are held to 16 points total is a great defensive night.
The only thing Tjones has over Dmo is athleticism. Name another area that's beneficial to this team that Tjones has over Dmo?
For some reason I feel feel D12 doesn't like watching Dmo succeed in the post. Hopefully im just wrong.
Both guys need to play. Don't really care who starts. They just need to continue to incorporate DMo's post game into the game plan when he's on the court. DMo will pick up mins at back up center so there will be more than enough mins for both players. jones is nice because he's an athletic highly efficient garbage man. You don't need to run plays for him. He's actually a good fit on the weakside next to either Howard or DMo posting up. He cleans up misses and harden passes cutting to the hoop.
Maybe Jones can become our 6th man. I'd like it if D-Mo started. He can space the floor better and he's been playing really well lately. Also, I'd make Terry out backup SG, not Canaan. Dwight/Black/DMo DMo/Jones Ariza/Pap Harden/Terry Beverley/Canaan
I don't think there's any evidence of this. I know you said it's your feeling but I think you might be projecting onto Howard.
McFail needs to make this the rotation: Howard - 32; DMo - 10; Black/Dorsey - 6 DMo - 18; Jones - 26; Papa - 4 Ariza - 34; Papa - 14 Harden - 34; Terry - 14 Beverley - 30; Canaan - 18
Jones has never been a good defender and very much depends on his athletic ability. He can't go one on one the way DMO can. DMO is a much rounded player.
IT IS NOT MCFAIL dumb ***. This coach has taken a crippled Rockets team to 6-2 without three starters. A better coaching job is imaginable. We should all be thankful that McHale is commanding this ship.
Have to keep the young guys and old (looking at you Terry) fresh. I say we have to keep playing Black/Terry.
I always believed that TJo would be the better player in the short run but that DMo had the better future if he could capitalize on his upside. His play over the past few games indicates that belief is true. DMo is a 7-foot PF/C who can give the Rockets everything that Otis Thorpe gave us, and that is really saying something, considering OT's skill set. D-Mo has a 3-Mo range, adept passing and developing shot-blocking skills. All things considered, IMO TJo's Rocket destiny is sixth man or high value trade bait because of his skill set and modest salary (for the NBA).
The one legitimate complaint with Mchale is that his offense can be quite predictable especially when the three is not falling. I have high praise for his development of the young players on the team.
Our depth looks pretty good...and with all these young cats by end of the year it might look special.
They are doing a good job. But Mcfail sticks until he atones for the collapses & boneheaded failures of the past. Similar to the rockets going from choke city to clutch city. Right now Kevin is McFail. I'm cheering for him to change that.
