Nope, you got it wrong. Rocket fans have the superiority complex. I just find it amusing that you are such a piss and moaner. Look I predicted before last season we were better than you guys for one simple reason: we have better players. It is just that last season our coach was pathetic. Just like I told you guys this summer that James Posey was the biggest steal in FA, while I was constantly told how Adrian Griffin and Eric Piatowski would more than make up for an overpaid Posey. Jeez..Posey is perhaps the biggest bargain in the NBA not named Steve Nash and not on a rookie contract and you guys let him go when you had a need for him and didn't have to do so. Rockets were supposed to make their mark on the league this year and are in danger of going to the lottery but knowing you guys that will just be because the Rockets needed to get XXX to ensure they would have a dynasty Also, as a MEMPHIS Grizzly fan, I have only had to deal with 2 seasons of futility. In that span we have been one of the worse teams and have never had the advantage of a top 3 pick of our own or cap space...but here we are anyway, a better team than the Rockets. And with Jerry West in place, I know the best is yet to come......
Let's see, multiple NBA, WC, division titles, playoff appearances, MVP awards, etc. vs. the Grizzlies, 0 winning seasons, playoff appearnces, etc. Yeah, how dare we, the partisans of a Rockets fan site no less, feel that the Rockets as a franchise have achieved a bit more, in spite of the Grizz' record setting 6th seed performance this year(woohoo!). Now, back to the topic at hand; are you arguing that the Rockets won't make the playoffs this year? Since you didn't mention it, I guess you are backing down on that too. More than likely, both teams will lose in the first round this year. I guess you can run smack all summer about how losing in the first round as the 6th seed is much better than losing in the first as the 7th or 8th seed (although I don't know, you have a predilection for appearing after losses in order to pile on, I recall the last thred you started....); just pardon me when I laugh at it. It's like a homeless dude on the corner drinking Mad Dog 20/20 looking down his nose at a homeless dude drinking malt liquor. In the end, they're both chumps so who cares?
Coming from someone who just used the words "weak, frail, and semi-r****ded, and annoying" ???? Yawn. My sig will stand the test of time and in the end you can't do anything but fulfill it like you are doing now.
You praise Posey as a great FA acquisition, and rightfully so, however Posey's departure led to the signing of Jim Jackson, who currently, is statistically outperforming Posey and at half the cost. I'm not denying that Posey isnt very valuable to the Grizzlies, but you would have to question Posey's worth on an inflexible and more disciplined offense such as the Rockets. To each his own. Posey was a great addition for the Grizzlies, as was Jackson a great acquisition for the Rockets, to compare which one was better is needless. You could argue that Memphis stands as a better team than the Rockets without much debate, them having beaten the Rockets twice so far this season. However to ensure or guarentee the 'best is yet to come' is foolhardy. If you were to poll any avid basketball fan ... which team's future is brighter? Memphis a team that lacks star identity, and who up to this year has been the joke of the NBA; or Houston with Yao Ming and Steve Francis in place... I would guarentee that a vast majority would go with the latter. Your basic arguement is that, the Rockets have underachieved, while the Grizzlies have overachieved. No one is denying this, but SamFisher hit it on the head, both teams have a lot of work to do.
I think it's funny that because your username has transcended into an irritating figure-head on this board, that it gives you the right to be so self-absorbed and suggest that whenever someone gives you the slightest bit of attention, it's because theyre waiting around to put a little pretentious snot as yourself in his place to make themselves feel better.
When people come on my threads just to flame me and contribute nothing to the original thread topic, how else would you interpret it? Besides, you have no response to my last post. Please explain how you get off accusing me of personal attacks when you called me "weak, frail, and semi-r****ded, and annoying" GG THX NICE TRY.
Your arguements are weak, frail, and semi-r****ded, etc etc. Learn how to read [this is an obvious attack on your intelligence.]
He just baits people. Hopefully for him, his act won't get him banned like it did in this thread: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54482
How is that a personal attack? That is just sound advice. I'm trying to get you to lighten up and you get defensive?
There is no way you are going to tell me Posey and Jackson are having comparable seasons. Comparable numbers? Yes but Posey has been much better especially after getting acclimated to the offense. I also bet you that if you polled these same fans prior to this season they would have said the Rockets were easily better than Memphis this season but that was not the case. Yes you have Yao Ming, Francis and Mobely. We have Gasol, Jwill, Posey, Battier, Swift, Wells, Mike Miller...get it? Also, I never predicted the Rockets wouldn't make the playoffs but it is more possible then some posters admit.
So what's your basis to Posey having a better season than Jackson? His recent barrage of 20+ pt games only to be followed up single digit numbers? Like I said he's a valuable role player for the Grizzlies, just as Jackson is valuable to the Rockets [at half the cost], why are you too dense to realize this? WOW! Gasol, Jwill, Posey, Battier, Swift, Wells, Mike Miller?!?! -- im shuddering -- and I still dont get it. You just proved my point, Ming, Francis, Mobley all went to all-star weekend, whereas no one from Memphis did. My point isnt about being voted to the all-star game, it's that Memphis has no superstar power, you cant call any of those players you listed a franchise player or a star, MAYBE Gasol, but you'd be bending the definition.
To elaborate before someone asks "why does it matter if Memphis has no stars if theyre playing well blah blah blah" When was the last time a team won the championship or was successful in the playoffs without having a legitimate go-to-guy they can depend on? In a conference where the teams have 2-3, even 4 stars, come playoff time youre going to need a hoss to carry the team through. I'm not trying to knock Memphis, I'm just saying the Rockets are better suited for the playoffs, and their futures look brighter with their cornerstone pieces in place. I hope you understand what I'm saying.
Gasol is definitely their go-to guy. He's been very good in clutch time if you have watched any Grizzlies games this year. Every loss I've seen is a close one, even against good teams so to say they won't do well in the playoffs is absurd.
No you are dense. Posey has been our usual go to guy in the 4th quarter if Pau is having an off night. Posey's numbers: November 8.6 pts 2.5 rebounds December 11.9 and 4.3 January 14.3 and 4.7 Febuary 18.4 and 6.5 on 54%FG 88%FT Grizzlies record since January 1st 22-7 Also we can expect this type of production and better for the next 4-5 years. All Star weekend? They were voted into the game, it should be obvious by your record that neither Yao or SF made the All Star game on merit. Like I said, it will be an interesting finish to this season. I still predict this board to be in flames in one week. Oh yeah...Here comes Utah!!!
