There is no deserving or not in real world, on the contrary, there is only getting it or not. Just like all star nomination, all kinds of awards, they are all based on people's opinionS, which are not reliable. In fact, playoff spots is based on hard scores. You score one more point than your opponent you win the game, if you have one more win on the end than your opponent, you are placed ahead in the playoff run. Therefore, it's the most deserving thing once you get it, if you really want to talk about deserving or not. Sure, they are far far away from perfect, but they only need to be relatively better than some teams to be in the playoff deservely.
I think we get into the playoffs 6th seed or better. My reasoning is this.. we have been playing better overall (minus Seattle) with SF3 struggling all season.. I wonder how good this team can become when SF3 finds his shot. we've overcome a lot this season (Pike, AG, MoT) all injured in the beginning.. The loss of EG which really set us back. but we have some real nice positives.. Cato's defensive play. Yao emergence as a go to guy JJ's solid contributions Cat's great play am I alone in thinking the Rox have been playing better lately? There has been better ball movement, our guys knocking down shots, and more emphasis in low post play. So we will see how this all plays out but im pretty excited. J

Of the final 3 games you absolutely know we'll win one, because either Seattle or Utah will have given hope, while the Mavs will be locked into their spot and will rest their main players. Even using your standard of judging the Rockets on their current record they cannot miss the playoffs.... the teams who would chase us can't make up the ground (basing it on their current records against the West/East etc) You still haven't put forth your candidate for who is going to knock us out, just basing your argument on blind rage that we blew a game to the Sonics You make comparisons to last year but ignore the fact that there were more than 8 teams with records over .500 at this stage of the season last year And, as Sane sanely pointed out, we are further over .500 than we were last year and our coach isn't going down with cancer (can someone furbish us with the Mr Mean coaching record?) - surely you can't deny that hurt us badly last season?? Don't be so pessimistic. The ROCKETS are struggling right now, but that shows it's time for them to come together as a team and not start pointing fingers. THE HOUSTON ROCKETS WILL WIN a majority of their games, starting with THE LAKERS. The game at Staples Center (with Malone back hopefully) will also be a magnitudinous victory for us. We will beat Dallas, Minnesota and other big teams. It starts Wednesday. We will make the playoffs. Just watch out for "THE BIG BROADCAST OF 2006 - THE ROCKETS 3RD NBA CHAMPIONSHIP".
