If if did happen, it would be the first time ever in Rockets history.

Don't get carried away. As or now the Rockets are barely in the playoffs picture. They are certainly playing better, but there is still a long way to go and they need to get in the playoffs first.

I don't think we could get number 1 seed, we'd have to go 29-3, just to finish with 59 wins, very unlikely. Why do I say 59, because that's usually the magic number for #1 seed in the west about 57 - 66.

Another thing is I am glad we won't have a #1 one seed.....in this century....most are cursed. I don't think it's only like 5 or 6 teams who have won the championship as a number #1 seed.

In the 2000s, the #1 seed is cursed, seriously when has they ever been another time in sports where #1 seeds are just as vulnerable as lowest seeded teams.

These are some of #1 seeds in the NFL, NBA, and MLB who did not win championship (and some didn't even make it out of their conferences):

    2007 New England Patriots
    2007 Dallas Cowboys
    2007 Arizona Diamondbacks
    2006-07 Dallas Mavericks
    2006-07 Detroit Pistons
    2006 San Diego Chargers
    2006 New York Mets
    2005 St. Louis Cardinals
    2005 Indianapolis Colts
2005-06 Detroit Pistons (San Antonio, best in west)
    2004-05 Phoenix Suns
    2004 Pittsburgh Steelers
    2003-04 Indiana Pacers
    2003-04 Minnesota Timberwolves
2003 Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams
2002-03 Dallas Mavericks (tied for best record with S.A.)
    2001-02 Sacramento Kings
    2001 Seattle Mariners
2001 Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Rams (17 point favorite in SB)
    2001 Houston Astros
    2004,2006, 2003, 2002, 2001 New York Yankees

#1 seed teams who won it 'all' in this decade
    99-01 Lakers (first two championships)
    03 Spurs
    03 Patriots
    04 White Sox
    07 Red Sox

only 5 games out with 32 to play. doesn't seem to be a dominant team this year. probably have to go 25-7 at the very least... Definitely possible.

55 wins is not going to get you a top seed.

thing is the top 1-3 seeds are not going to have as good as records as last year so your not going to have to have as many wins this season.

The Rockets can win every game the rest of the way, and I still don't think we'll get the number one seed.

see the chances increasing at all?

if we win tomorrow we will be one loss out of the first seed.

come on theres at least a small chance. ;)

Looks like I might have spoken too soon ... if guess I expected the Lakers or Spurs to have at least 63 wins. Still could happen.

Crap ... did I jinx us with this post?

[rquoter]This sort of like saying, "If flying, pink elephants appear over Toyota Center, the Rockets will be the #1 seed."

We can pretty much count on Yao and/or Tracy not staying healthy the rest of the way.[/rquoter]

According to Marc Stein, the Lakers, the Rockets, and the Mavs have the easiest schedule in the top 9 teams of WC. Good chance for the Rockets to win the WC or division.

Yes, props to you, you called it! And we will make history into the process... 20 games in a row won't be too far stretched.

The strength of the W. Conference marginalizes the importance of seeding than other years. HCA is still big, but the quality of the opponent won't be as straightforward as 1-8.

I just want the Rocks to advance to the 2nd rnd. Then we can shoot the breeze and talk beer fueled dreams all night.
