I was at that SA game, DD, and while on paper, it should have been a relatively "easy" game for the Rocks, it was only the 9th game of the season, Alston was out, Brooks had a terrible shooting night, as did McGrady, who played pretty bad, clearly hurting, Scola got in foul trouble and never got untracked. The team was never in sync with the offense. The game was in SA, with a typical crowd that was deafening when the Spurs made any kind of a run. I knew it might be a long night when Wafer started getting minutes. He was pretty clueless on defense and had 3 turnovers in his 19 minutes. Yao, while playing pretty well, was even slower than usual. Artest had a good game, as did Landry off the bench. I wouldn't toss that game into your list. The Spurs played like a team and they didn't play like "crap." (the refs sucked!)
The only teams I would call 'crap' teams are the Wizards and Grizzlies. Pacers have beaten great teams. SA is good, so are the Mavs. Clippers arnt great, but not crap. There are only a few teams in the NBA that great teams shouldnt lose to, two of those being the Wizards and Grizzlies. We just didnt show up for those games, it happens. Overconfidence kills us sometimes. On a different note, I have a question. As an athlete in my youth, if I performed like **** (like the Rockets did last night), the next practice would make me think twice for performing like I did, coaches would nearly kill you in practice. For professional sports, do the coaches just brush those games off, or do they punish the team the next practice?
