OK GUY you can call me dumb without providing any supporting argumentation. Par for the course. Why are we talking about present value of assets that won't mature for years? Future value is far more important when you're talking about draft picks. Your opinion that these assets have no present value is pure speculation, as you have no idea what we could flip them for. You have no idea if we've offered them up to other teams, you have no idea what other teams have refused to give up for them.
Let's be clear, Unprotected 1sts that are 3-4-5-6-7 years into the future have "barely have value". You are standing by that? Lawd have mercy. I'm out guys. The beautiful, beautiful ignore button. If you aren't going to be rational, at least be funny. DD is funny, sometimes.
cad kăd n. A man whose behavior is unprincipled or dishonorable. n. A young fellow of the town or vicinage who hangs about a college or university and does chance services for the collegians. n. A boy, a fellow: a general term of slight contempt applied originally to various classes of persons of a low grade.
it’s not great, but it is what it is...the Pelicans managed to get a good young player like Ingram in return for AD, but their real prize was immediately getting Zion, a player they can try to build around...Rockets need to get that young player, and our only hope is through the draft getting a Cade, Mobley, or Jalen Green and their potential plus having them under team control for the next 7-8 years is more valuable to me than all the players and picks from BK or somebody like Simmons from Philly
The expectation is that you are able to do both, get a guaranteed top draft pick for Harden, suck this year and use your own pick as well. Trading away a top 3 player in the league for nothing just to maybe have a ping pong ball fall in your favor using your own existing pick just seems like you are not maximizing your assets.
The Knicks are a playoff team, the thing we need to get use to is that a bad team will now be called the X city Rockets.
a guaranteed top draft pick for Harden wasn’t realistic, at least not one in the immediate future...not when only contenders or teams trying to contend were in the running...I mainly wanted a good young player still on his rookie deal like how OKC got Shai, and then tank to keep our pick...I would’ve been fine with MPJr as the young player, and then a tank job for example
Levert & Allen would have help us back from our true potential Just wait for the Porter/Top 4 pick/Wood big 3 in a couple years
Nah, we can never know what was on the table - other than the Simmons deal - but there’s a ton of reasonable trade constructions that would have gotten the Rockets either a good young player, a near-guaranteed lottery pick or both. Getting neither is a sign your organization is trash.
For the crowd that keeps arguing "I don't want my team spending long term money on young guys like Allen while the team is still rebuilding," how do you explain: a) This team went after Gordon KNOWING they'd have to commit big money to him. Reports also that the team expressed interest in Collins who would have demanded a max deal. b) How about this alternative: Allen and Levert get tons of play on a subpar team in a rebuild. They put up impressive numbers, Allen gets extended, and they gain intrigue from teams on the cusp. On draft day, the team trades them down for mid-first rounders to an Atlanta, NY, or Chicago as opposed to trading them away like they did for bottom five picks. They might also have gotten more in a return depending on how well the two play. Since the trade, Allen has been consistently putting up around 20 a game. Is it so crazy to think that next year he'd be in the all star conversation? Levert is just getting back to form and dropped 28 the other night. Don't you think a young player with good knees willing to go anywhere and not preset on a specific destination would have gotten us more back in a trade than one with chronic knee issues who can't play back to backs and literally only wanted to go to one city? This FO handled both of these deals embarrassingly bad. It's already humiliating to be a fan of this team with the crap we're seeing on the floor. Now our FO is the laughingstock of the league, and for good reason.
All I can say those late firsts better net a couple of game changers or the Thunder won’t be known as the only team that got screwed in the Harden trade
No doubt disappointing when presented like that. And if we didn't take back players with contracts and end up with a top 4 pick this draft then what?
We should’ve at least given some help to the east contenders other than Nets. Make the Nets split up and get us better picks.
The only argument I’ll accept for an equal or better deal than they got is Simmons. I’m not exactly sure why people act like there was some other better offer to be had. There wasn’t. But what am I saying, the people whining are the same ones who were begging for a tank when we were playing well. You can’t have discussions with people who talk out of both sides of their mouths.
