James Harden's connundrum when it comes to chasing a title, as summed up succenctly by classic 1980s cinema: No matter where you go, Jimbo, there you are...
They'll be a year older and even more injury prone. If they still dont win a ring next year will they resign with Nets? If they all leave that still leaves Rox with 2 frps and 2 swaps.
That's what we're banking on here! But it still makes sense from the Nets point of view, even if they have to give up 2 lotto picks (for example). They went all in on the chance to win a title, and this season, health stands against them. Next season will be better for them with Dinwiddie returning, and the MLE to spend. Between those 2 assets, they should be able to garner a productive player - and they can throw in their first round pick this season to sweeten a Dinwiddie trade. They have picks, and (I think) should improve for next season. Whether health stands against them again next year? We Rox fans can only hope... Eventually the re-treads will fall off, and one of those picks will be in the lottery.
Yes - re-reading my post it isn't very clear, but I am referencing him as an asset (who could be SnTraded - potentially with their late 1st rounder?) to bring back something productive. Between that and MLE (etc)
There are no conditions, we have 3 of their firsts. We also have 4 swap options so if they're bad: this year swap: meaningless Other years: possibly meaningful. Why are you worried about this trade to this day? Yes, we would look good if things stayed the same, but Harden and Morey made sure they didn't stay as they were. Blame them.
When talking about "quitting" just know #TILMAN is the FIRST QUITTER. He quit the quest to go "all in" on a championship team. After that, there were ripple effects, one of which is Harden wanting to leave to play for a team that would go all in like Brooklyn and their ownership. Starts with Tilman. He is ground zero to all of the ripple effects.
I dunno but thats better than hoping Ben Simmons learns to shoot which is what would've happened with the Philly package.
With the rumors of Kyrie being out and KD probably following, I think this is a good time to bring this thread back up.
They didn’t trade James Harden for nothing and took the best deal available to them. That being said, the Nets are going to be competitive at least until 2026. The assets they get from Irving and/or Durant are substantial. The best hope for our picks is for the Nets to re-sign Kyrie to a big extension and Durant gets hurt. Otherwise, the best we do is a mid to late pick in 2024 and maybe a swap in 2025 if we are really good by then.
Agreed. The Rockets will ultimately be able to attribute a huge portion of their successful rebuild on their willingness to look LONG TERM in the trade with Brooklyn. Also, not sure if you're aware (as many people under 24 suddenly seem to be) that we capitalize the first letter of a sentence. Never understood people going out of their way to do something incorrectly.
Day 1 supporter of the trade. Need the same posters thrashing the trade to come back and apologize because we got receipts
It was the right move Whether Harden force it or not The window was closed Had he stayed . . .we'd be first round fodder and have picks in the late teens Rocket River
