They could have Dream and Tom Thibodeau as assistant coaches but that doesn't change the fact that your starting center is 6'6 with shoes on!! The defense MAY get better but since our defense was **** last year I don't see how it could get any worse. The personal has to change.
Just remember that starting 6'6 center, with shoes on, had a lot to do with the team going 15-5 after the all-star break. Most importantly, he did it while guarding some of these other centers that we are chasing now. Go figure.
I think he should stand most of the time, but you're going to have to let him sit down and rest every once in a while.
This is really not as far fetched as you would think. For instance, our record against Memphis last season was 3-1. We all know what Memphis did in the playoffs. Who is to say that the Rockets can't do the same or better. Especially considering the chemistry that was built last season. (read the sig)
Look I love my team, this team but we've been left out of the playoff with a record barely over 500 for two straight years. It's not a fluke. We aren't a playoff threat of anything close to a contender. Is your goal for this team tnot to win a title? This isn't the NFL. There is no " any givin Sunday" in the playoffs. The cream rises and talent wins playoffs series. The Mavs did it with Dirk and a stacked bench. Look back at 09 when we played the Lakers. We gave them everything and still got blown out in game 7 and lost the series. This team while fun and gutsy WILL NOT WIN A WCF let alone a Campionship. I won't feel happy about making the playoffs anymore. We've been there And done that.
Rox are going no where with this roster. The only way the rox will improve is by trading luis and kmart for picks. 2012 draft is our only hope.
Everything done in the past two years was designed to let the Rockets be players at this point. Standing pat is not going to happen, and it shouldnt happen.
How many dominant centers have there been in the NBA recently? Yao, Howard, Shaq? How many have been recently drafted? :crickets: How long does Morey have?
We aren't winning a championship with this current roster, no way. I don't even think that's debatable. That's like saying the Wolves will win the championship within the next 5 years because they got RA now. And the title of this thread is strangely similar to one I saw a year ago when Brooks was still starting.
I couldn't agree more. I love my Rockets! I have loved the great teams and I have loved the bad ones. This team is on the low end of the middle at best. The NBA is a SUPERSTAR league. We have no superstar!
While I'm not nearly as optimistic as you are I do feel like we are positioned, as is, to finish around the 6th-9th seed. 6th or 7th if we keep Chuck and 8th or 9th if we don't. If we make a move for a legitimate defensive center or Thabeet surprises me, which I am sort of getting on board of believing, I can see 4th or 5th seed. I know it's early and I have no clue how every teams roster will shake out, but when I look at the 8 teams that finished ahead of us I see only 2 teams that are almost a lock to win a better % of games than they did last year, OKC and Memphis. San Antonio finished with the best record, but I honestly believe they have to fade eventually. Duncan(35) and Ginobili(34) can't carry this team forever. I don't expect them to fall off the map, but dropping to the bottom 4 of the playoffs isn't out of the question. Lakers I see as neutral. Probably win about the same and stay around the same spot. Losing Chandler isn't 100%, but if they do I just can't see Dallas playing as well as they did last season without that defensive anchor. Again they aren't gonna fall off the map, but regression isn't out of the question with everyone wanting to take out the defending champs and a possibly weaker roster. Denver has a few players stuck overseas and are facing the possibility of losing their center. I know they played better post Melo trade last season, but they are going to be without a lot of that depth and that could easily have them down around the 8th or 9th spot rather than 5th. Portland I think all depends on Oden. If he stays in portland and manages to stay healthy a better winning % is certainly possible, but we know how counting on injury prone big men can go. No Oden and I see them as about the same, maybe a little worse. The ownerless Hornets for obvious reasons don't appear to be looking at a very promising season. Never know what they get in a Paul rental trade, but losing him and West to me pretty much eliminates them from the playoff picture. Of all the teams below us last year, really only the Clippers strike me as a team that could jump into playoff contention. I could see the suns and warriors pushing for the 8th seed, but I'm not really scared of them or the Kings, Jazz and Wolves for that matter. All these stars appear to be moving East and the West's best teams, outside of a few, are getting old. Again it's obviously a little early to claim to know how teams are gonna shake out by the time the season starts, but finding our way into the playoffs and winning isn't as far fetched as some of you believe.
Postbadlee, you my sir, are with all due respect, a dumb arse if you think the Rockets will win a championship or much less get out of the 1st round of the playoffs with this current roster.
