If you actually watched him play then you would see that your wrong on all except his knee. But the fact is he has hardly played and his knee stiffens up on him when he goes to the bench is normal for somebody coming off the surgery he had.
How does this "screw NY over"??? Either the Knicks are going to renounce McGrady in order to sign outside free agents with their cap room (in which case, if all cap room was used up, they could only re-sign T-Mac for the league minimum), or they are going to re-sign Tracy using his Bird rights. Or, somewhere in between, they could re-sign McGrady first to a "reasonable" contract and then use whatever cap room is left over for outside free agents. Frankly, I think it would be in Houston's best interest if McGrady re-signed with the Knicks on a "mutually acceptable" three-year deal. This would mean that the Knicks had already struck out on getting two max free agents, plus it would tie up that cap room for the next several years. I mean, does anyone really think that McGrady would be a better player than Rudy Gay, Carlos Boozer or David Lee for the Knicks over the next two years? The Rockets signing McGrady would only have the consequence of removing a "bad available alternative" for the Knicks. Personally, I'd like to keep all of the Knicks' "bad options" open this summer.
TMAC will screw NY by playing for them. TMAC's contract, drama, laziness and suckiness will destroy NY's chances of signing any good players.
NY is going to need all the cheap talented players they can get.A healthy T-mac signed for cheap could be the difference of making the playoffs or not.You have said it your self that if NY strikes out on Lebron or Bosh they are screwed so would it T-mac and Johnson be better then Johnson and a D-leaguer?
There sure are a lot of T-mac haters. If you don't like T-mac fine but at least use some logic and think like Morey does about this before giving a answer please.
Erm, since this is your brilliant idea, explain how signing T-Mac would be a brilliant Morey-like move that would screw New York over.
I by no means hate tmac he was my favorite player not in a rockets uni before he got here. But this is thread is ridiculous, have you not seen him play this year? Knicks goal was to attain his contract, and if he could still play some then that was gravy. He has not impressed thus but I still see a limited market for him in the offseason at the veterans minimum. But by no means will any team not even the knicks bend over backwards for the guy or be screwed by not signing him, imo ridiculous thread.
But why wouldn't the Knicks be better off using the cap space opened up by renouncing T-Mac in order to get someone else? For instance, if the Knicks threw max money at Rudy Gay, they could have him. Memphis won't match an offer sheet that big. Gay is a much better option for the Knicks than T-Mac. And you have to realize, from a TIMING standpoint, that T-Mac would have to agree on a real "sweetheart" deal BEFORE any other free agents could sign with the Knicks. Otherwise, the Knicks would have to renounce Tracy, in which case, all Tracy could get with the Knicks is either (a) their eventual leftover cap room or (b) the league minimum.
