I don't get this. Rockets = Harden, Terry, Beverley, Ariza All of which are good 3 shooters. Only guys that on that list you provided that are actually ELITE shooters are Spurs = Green Heat = Ray Allen Warriors = Curry, Thompson Rockets = Terry Established shooters: Spurs = Ginobli, Belinelli, Mills Heat = Mike Miller Rockets = Harden Reliable Shooters: Heat = Shane Battier, James Jones Warriors = anyone isn't isn't a big (iggy, Barbosa, Barnes) Rockets = Beverley, Ariza And then we have guys that shoe flashes of adaquate 3 ability in TJones, Dmo, and Josh Smith (not to mention Brewer at times)
I just looked up Barbosa stats. I never realized the guy made his career out of 3 point shooting (+39% career 3 shot percentage). I had the wrong perception of him and would readjust him as an Elite shooter if I could edit.
He was under the tutelage of Nash but never became a star point guard in any shape or form. Back in 06 he was the "Brazilian Blurr".
Reddick would be a bad fit for a Mchale coached team because Reddick's strength is running off screens and shooting.
I've mentioned it before, but Budinger is a cheap expiring option that can be had easily. He has recovered from his injury and finished the year strong in Minny. Buy low, baby
Rockets don't need to sign anyone. They need to re-sign everyone and see what can they do when fully healthy and one year wiser, with experienced gained during this deep run. Did you forget that when fully healthy we are one sick mofo deep ass team? Also really big and athletic through every position. And for most of the season, excluding abominational lack of trying games, we seemed to have good chemistry. I am sure Morey won't do nothing close to being radical this off-season.
Don't be such a homer. Rockets have VERY streaky shooters. And while Terry might be a good shooter, he can't stay in front of the young guards on defense.
I disagree. Keeping the same team doesn't address our problem at the 1 and/or 4 spot. We can't fix everything. So if I had to choose, provide us with a legit pg going forward the offense should operate more efficiently (with or without Harden on the court). Also, what this thread is addressing is an immediate need for this team. We don't have a shooter that you CAN'T leave open. We don't have a pure shooter. Kyle Korver, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Mike Dunleavy, Marco Berinelli, etc. … these are pure shooters (guys that you CAN'T leave open or they will nail it).
Our shooters are streaky, on occasion Ariza will get hot. Jason Terry is the closest thing we have to a pure shooter, but (because of age) when he has to play a bunch of minutes his legs are shot. Harden is an elite scorer, but not an elite shooter. We need someone that if you leave them open count it, because the scoreboard will change.
Dude. Look at the percentages. They have their bad shooting nights like most players which sticks in your memory more than their good shooting nights. On any given night I'm happy with Harden, Ariza, Beverley, and Terry taking higher volume of 3s.
Those pure shooters are super rare and all SG. Some SF. We already have these two starting spots sealed.
We don't need an overhaul, just minor adjustments. I can live with our starting 5 if we upgrade the point. But our bench can be torn down and rebuilt (just kidding or am I?). Mike Dunleavy and Marco Berinelli are examples of guys that we could add that would improve our shooting. They are also (you guessed it) free agents.
With a pure shooter we could add/run PLAYS WHERE WE RUN THEM OFF SCREENS and allow them to do their thing. Shoot.
I find it sad that people are asking Morey to get players that can shoot a basketball when that's what he should have been doing in the first place.
No, what he should have been doing in the first place was putting us in the best position possible with talent and options to improve going forward. Which he has done an excellent job at. Your comment is frankly insulting to the man who gave us a Western Conference Finalist with numerous avenues to improve.
