Trouble is, your game by game is basically cherrypicking a handful of games at various times during the year and saying based on these games, T-Mac has been horrible and Yao has been carrying this team. Thats why you look at the big picture. When T-Mac goes down, Yao doesnt lift the team the way T-Mac does when Yao goes down.
What 'nuff said? So the win-loss ratio with T-mac out and with Yao-out last year was not "'nuff said"? If your argument is Yao performs well against tough opponents. then I guess Utah must be too weak for Yao to play to his best? So His playoff performance was not "'nuff said"?
Ahhhh, NOW we are having discussion without being asses to each other! As Buc said, you are choosing and picking which games, and I think game-by-game is too granular a level to be evaluating this discussion. Rockets' MVP - Most Valuable Player to this team Everyone has importance, I'm not *that* stupid. So statements/arguments about well, it's a team sport, we need a better bench, PG, etc. etc...that doesn't fit in this discussion. Who do we feel is the MVP to this team? It's an opinion. Mine happens to be a guy named McGrady. I think his play is ultimately the largest influence on whether we deem this team to be a success or failure. Being the MVP doesn't always carry glory with it. Sometimes it carries blame. Most Valuable sometimes means irreplaceable. I think in the context of the NBA it means there really isn't another player in the league you can be replaced with and the team gets noticably better. On the Rockets the only two players that can really be talked about is Tracy and Yao. You can interchange Tracy with Kobe, LeBron, etc. I don't think the Rockets get much better. You tell me you want to replace Yao with Duncan, Amare, KG, Mihm (ahh, just seeing if you were paying attention ) etc. I think that changes the team for the better immediately. I know it doesn't make sense to say this with what I just said above, but I'm not trying to discredit Yao. I love the guy, and I greatly value what he gives this team. I don't want him traded at all. I just don't think he is the most valuable player on this team. Cheers.
but I'm not trying to discredit Yao. I love the guy, and I greatly value what he gives this team. I don't want him traded at all. I just don't think he is the most valuable player on this team. Cheers.[/QUOTE] But I think you do, whether you admit it or not. Just 2 cents from me, when you talk about who should be MVP, you should really talk about it when both Yao and TMac are on the court. It is meaningless talking about MVP when a team is losing because one of your key players is not playing. Have you ever heard a MVP is awarded to a losing team? Therefore, if you want us to be serious about your points, I think you need to have TMac, Yao and other key players on the court at the same time so they can win consistently.
I can't resist writing another one on this thread while waiting for Rockets game with nothing else to do. It's true the Rockets' record with Yao out is very impressive while with Tmac out is very disturbing and the recent Tmac injury seems just another prove of your opinion. I am just wondering what our record would be this year had the person injured was Yao not Tmac(God forbidden). My opinion is the record would have been about the same. Nonetheless, the Tmac's recent absent just gives some people another chance to talk about how much more important Tmac is over Yao. It was about the same with last season. Tmac happened to miss our toughest parts of the season. If you just look at the number and refuse game by game evaluation, you are really comparing apple to orange. Sometimes the numbers are just deceiving. Oh, did I mention Tmac's intensity levels are different with Yao out or not while Yao gives his all every game? Did I mention Yao behaves very carfully with his teammates while Tmac has been trying too hard to prove something he has not proved yet which is not good for the team's chemistry?("It's all on me" comes to my mind). Did I mention Yao's so called MVCC(more often than not, people on this board have been used it in an insulting way, which just says how much those idiots do not appreciate it) helps to get players cheaply. It is funny to see some guy started a thread"The Rockets' MVP: McGrady by far " with distourted numbers claims he's not trying to discredit Yao. I thought the title itself means nobody else is even close when talking about this team's MVP. Then what do I know, I am still trying to improve my English by talking with my second grade son in English. On top of that, I am a "free registered user"(WTH that has to do with any discussion I do not know).
