BTW, I remember Shaq often yelled guards back to early days.

    Hey guys,

If you read what I'm saying, I agree that BOTH are integral to the team's success. The team goes no where without BOTH. That should be obvious.

I can't say both are equally important though.

I'm sayin if we replace Tracy with Kobe, sure the team might win it all, but overall are they that much better?
If we replace Yao with a stat-simliar...say KG. Sorry, that team seems awfully sexy.

I think some might think I am saying Yao is not important. Read again. I think I'm just saying that Tracy is invaluable to this team's success.

I'm not here to bicker about "it takes 5," if tmac or yao care, if he's a fragile player, or if we should get a better PG. If I wanted to discuss that, that's what I'd post  So I don't know why that is all coming up?

I love Yao and Tracy. They are the stars of our team. It's just so blatantly obvious that this team lives and dies with Tracy. I suppose I just don't understand why so many find it hard to see this.

I guess I'm just here giving him his props. The board dogs him a lot. I just think we forget how important he is to this team...how people are always talking trade TMac, but Yao is not tradeable. I just highly disagree with that sentiment. I actually think both are untradeable. We gain nothing by trading them away. Our supporting cast just needs to play better, because they are certainly capable of it.

Without Yao, we are a medicore team too.
Centers distort game and are stablizing force. Every GM is dying to get one. Say put Yao and Tmac on the markert, see who's got inquired about more.
We are successful with Tmac because he is our best playmaker, and we dont have another one. If he is out, and nobody can create, Yao's life is misrable. Shaq in his prime without Kobe was the same. Lakers won less games without Kobe and without Shaq.

It is not a good time to talk about the team's MVP when the team is losing, let talk how to win the next game.

Very true!! But if Mc Grady, who is so vital to the team play of the Rockets, tries to win the scoring title then all will be lost!!! The resaon being is that McGrady is the only true playmaker on the team. Tracy must concentrate on both scoring and assisting others to score.
If he wins MVP because of his NASH like performance I am all for it! :p

KOBE and SHAQ wanted to be the MVP of the Lakers. Ended with the SHAQ deal.

T-MAC has more impact on offense of the Rockets, but Yao has the most impact on defense of the Rockets.

Why do we need to find who's the MVP of the TEAM. Why not get a real MVP, or Final MVP?

With Yao out much of last year, we still were a..what 52-win team? That's impressive. We are more than a mediocre team without Yao (with Mac).

I agree 100% that he's a valuable commodity b/c good centers are very hard to find. But if I were GM, if you offered me Kobe for TMac or KG for Yao, I'm taking the latter. I feel like that move yields me a better chance at the title. Just opinion of course.

Really? I think last year's Rocket squad would disagree with you.

I think they go hand-in-hand my friend. We were lookin pretty good in an UNPOLISHED state at 6-1. We drop a close one and are 6-2. Lose Tracy in the next game in a close contest, and since are now 6-5.

Nothing wrong with showing a little recognition of who makes this team what it is. How to win the next game? Get Mac back. That's our best shot.

I have a feeling, if Rockets win the title, Yao and Tmac will be co-MVP. :)

Without bothering to read every post, Tracy is obviously more important when it comes to winning games during the season. There is little doubt. But when it comes to advancing in the playoffs and winning a championship, both guys are equally essential. Neither one has gotten out of the first round with, or without, each other. Both have to bring their "A" games for us to claim the ultimate prize.

I think at the rate he was going, he was going ot be the MVP. He was scoring at a league leading pace WHILE still making the plays to win. Sometimes it was him scoring, sometimes it was him passing, and sometimes it's making a defensive stop.

If it weren't his shooting arm that got jacked up in the injury I would say he can still do it. Now, I'm HOPING he can still do it.

I can't argue with you there. I share the same thoughts. Tracy played his ass off. Yao was less than stellar. The rest of our guys...*sigh* :( They let us down. We just needed one or two of them to step up.

Yeah, why not traded Yao for KG with Minesota. I garentee they would have done it.
We can also trade Yao for KG now with the Celtics.

That would be so sexy and a championship would be in KG and T-MAC's pocket.

T-Mac and KG would win championships. T-Mac and Yao can't get out of the first round.

all i can say is this team won't go nowhere if the role players don't step up consistently.

My friend, last three games, we were playing the teams we had the problems before, even with Tmac we may still lose the games, it is just too early to take about the MVP.

It's a moot point, one not worth all the strong feelings people have about it. If either Yao or Tracy is injured in the playoffs, the team isn't going anywhere.
