"Brand, Davis, and Marion will be legitimate superstars. Terry, Miller, Hamilton, and Sczerbiak all have a very good chance to become stars and maybe superstars in this league."

This is what you said. You followed it up by changing your tune to say this...

"I said that Marion, Baron, and Brand could or will develop into legitimate players, and the rest of the players should or could develop into all-stars, even Bender could."

They could, should, or will develop into legitimate players or legitimate SUPERstars? There is quite a difference between the two. Not to mention a big difference between could, should, and will. Tyron Lue could develop into an all-star too I guess huh? lol

Timing, in 3 years when these players have developed, you will see what I mean. Those players have so much upside. You challenged to name a draft wiht picks 1-10 being consistent all-stars. I named the closest draft I could think of. I think this draft will develop at least 8 players that will become consistent all stars. After I answered your challenge as closely as I could, you slam me and claim that I said that they are all franchise players. I said that Odom and Francis will develop into Franchise players, not all 10. Was T-Mac a franchise player after 2 years? no Is he now? Yes. I think Odom and Francis are on their way. All of those players can develop into consistent all stars barring injury or tragedy.

and for Miller, Terry, Hamilton, and Sczerbiak, I said that they have a good chance, I never said that they will. Once Marion, Davis, and Brand become superstars you will see that the 99 draft was the deepest of the 90s. Again, I never said that they are all consistent all-stars. I said that it was the closest draft to producing consistent all-stars (they still need time to develop) from picks 1-10.

Realize that Kobe and Iverson were not franchise players, either, at the beginning. Give Francis, Brand, Odom a few years (and another team in Odom's case) and they will be right there with Kobe and Ivy.

I think the best way to describe THIS year's draft, though, is DEEP. It is the deepest bunch of mediocre players we've seen in a while.

Is the problem that so many players who would have developed into exciting top picks have come out early and are hoping to develop in the NBA instead of getting their work in in college? Maturity is a lot easier to come by in college. I think they cost themselves in the long run by coming out.

I didn't slam you. I posted exactly what you said. Now you're trying to tell me again what you said. This is what you said.

"Brand, Davis, and Marion will be legitimate superstars. Terry, Miller, Hamilton, and Sczerbiak all have a very good chance to become stars and maybe superstars in this league."

I challenged someone else to name a draft that had it's top 10 picks as consistent all-stars. There are currently zero all-stars on your list. I doubt that will change by much next year.

Let's not forget that really we're talking potential all-stars. There is no guarantee that Eddy Curry will be a star. But his has all the ability to do that. Most years some one like Danny Manning or Joe Smith comes along with all-star ability and fails to deliver. This year there are guys like Loren Woods and Terrence Morris who 1 or 2 years ago were projected to be number 1 picks/all-stars which now are projected to be at 10 and 30 respectively. If Curry, et al, waited a year or two they could be the next Morris. On the other hand Morris could show himself to be a different player in the NBA.

This is what you posted, claiming that I said that all 10 players are franchise players. You did not post what I had posted until a later post. Odom and Francis are franchise players, just give them time to develop. When was Iverson's first All-Star appearance? How about Mcgrady's? They are both franchise players now. You are judging a draft class by how many all-star berths after 2 years in the league, and if that is how you judge players, you would probably be screwed as the GM of a NBA team. You wouldn't have drafted Mcgrady, his first all-star berth was this year, his fourth year in the league. A lot of players now come into the league with 2 years of college or less. These players have loads of potential, but need time to develop. It seems that you aren't willing the give young players this time. Just wait 3 to 4 years, and once these players are close to or in their primes, you will see how deep of a draft class the 99 class is.

Actually I asked you who the franchise players were and you presented the same names and the same quote I posted above.

I would draft the best players available. Whether they turn out to be franchise players, all-stars, or trash would be pretty much out of any GM's control.
