    Rockets complete coaching interviews
Process ends with Former T-Wolves GM, coach McHale
    By JONATHAN FEIGEN

With the Rockets expected to select a coach by the end of the week, they completed their interviews on Wednesday with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander meeting with former Timberwolves coach and general manager Kevin McHale in Miami, a person with knowledge of the meeting confirmed on Thursday. Alexander had previously met with the other finalists, Dallas assistant Dwane Casey and Boston assistant Lawrence Frank. According to two individuals with knowledge of the talks, the meeting with McHale was considered part of the process with Alexander always intending to meet with each candidate.

McHale was in Miami after Tuesday’s TNT broadcast of the Eastern Conference Finals. He had met with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey last week in Chicago. The Rockets have told each candidate that they do not have a front-runner for the position, according to an individual familiar with the process. A decision is expected in the next several days. McHale, 53, had spent most of his career in Minnesota in the front office. He went 39-55 in two brief two coaching stints with the Timberwolves. He went 19-12 in his initial tenure as Timberwolves coach, in 2004-05, but was still vice president of basketball operations and did not intend to remain as coach. He was 20-43 as coach in 2008-09 and was dismissed after the season. Casey’s lone head coaching position in the NBA was also with the Timberwolves. He went 53-69 before he was fired by McHale with a 20-20 record in his second season. Casey, 54, has been an assistant with the Mavericks the past three seasons, receiving accolades for the growth of the Dallas defense.
Frank, 40, was a 225-241 as Nets coach, winning his first 13 games as an interim coach and losing his last 16 games to start the 2009-10 season before he was dismissed. He was a top assistant with the Celtics, largely running Boston’s defense, this season.

No front runner after interviewing them all 3 times (is that right?).

What now, start all over

    4th and 5th interviews?

    A raffle?

That's because they already gave Steve Kerr the job...

Maybe they're waiting for Dallas to finish so they can hire Casey?

Didn't Chicago announce that they gave the job to Thibodeau, while the Celtics where still in playoffs? ... Cause if so... I really doubt that would be reason the Rockets would wait.

    OMG.

Lawrence Frank is still a candidate?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Btw did they tell all 15 candidates this? lol.

Maybe it is because they are interested in Brian Shaw and didn't think it was realistic prior to LA choosing Brown. One can only hope.

I still think Casey is the guy but I've come to terms with McHale, if it happens.

I THINK the rule is a coach can't hold two positions with two different organizations at the same time. They can name him coach but he can't start his position untill Dallas' run ends. I'd imagine, Morey/Les don't want to do it during the WCF but after or even after the Finals.

If they are waiting this long, it has to be Casey. They cant' hire him until the Heat sweep the MavBRICKs in 4 games. They can't just tell the other 2 candidates that they didn't get the job because that would be essentially announcing that they have hired Casey.

    Most dramatic this year: Heat.
