Not to mention that ZONES were illegal during the 45 win seaon, and the Rockets reliance on the iso for this last year hurt them more then helped.

I still believe taking Ming and letting the team gel together is the best course of action.

    OutKast,

So many players miss training camp these days that I don't see it as much of an issue.

You know that Francis has NEVER played in the summer leagues for the Rockets...generally only players trying to make it in the league play in them.

I don't think Ming will miss much by missing out on summer league action, and Rudy should toss him into the fire and let him foul out of every single game, until he learns how to play in the NBA.

There are too many problems on this team to believe that a player like Ming or Odom can come in and make us a playoff team for the next couple seasons.

We're literally stupid when it comes to actually playing basketball.
Go ahead and believe that we'll be a playoff team with our current offense of ISOs and great defensive players ;)

Wow, MoTaylor and Glen Rice come back next year.

I say give the current project 1 - 2 years, after that, just start from scratch if we show no improvement.
Besides, if we fail to make the playoffs again, coach Rudy is about as good as gone....or at least will be bumped to an assistant coach.

DaDakota---Didn't Steve play in the summer league with Mobley? I'm pretty sure if you look at the archives here there was a write-up on it

A fair amount of this burden goes on Rudy. Obviously we have a weak frontcourt and a backcourt with great potential. However, we play ugly basketball, little defense, and often very unorganized. I remember Jeff posted somewhere that Rudy has redone his playbook in response to the zone defense and to exploit our players strengths. Hopefully this is true because some innovation and more movement with and without the ball would definitely help.

Great post BigM--2 years and 20 games is too much time? Talk about little patience....
