Excellent thread. I had been thinking of posting a thread of when the hangout thread posts will exceed the posts on the game action bbs.

It is getting to the point where I miss not having so much Rockets news and or analysis.

A philosophical crisis. What will happen to the game action board, if we don't start off strong next year?

This is where we need the die hard fans who watch through thick and thin. I do. However, even the die hard fans seem to be too depressed to post much. Going to the board doesn't inspire much posting either.

Oh, well, the NBA draft always generates a bunch of posts.

A question for the real old timers. Has an extended slump like this happened before?

Since I've been here. No. I still glance through it for info.

I have nothing to offer the forum, currently. Back when the draft forum and rockets forum were one, I could still comment on potential rockets there.

Its funny how college basketball talk has been spread out between 3 forums.

I don't believe this is the wrong forum, kidrock8. we're not talking about the Rockets. we're talking about the Rockets forum.

can anything actually be wrongly posted in the hangout forum? the "bigass gordita and anything else" clause seems to offer a pretty wide legal umbrella for all tired and huddled posts to come in under.

We had built up a good following, and then you had to go and ruin it by eliminating 95% of this board! Just kidding! :D Time to take back our board! Hell no we won't go! Hell no we won't go!

*sniffle*... what a nice thread... even had that little fella grummett posting his 4 words that probably take him 2 hours to type. Gotta love that. :(

I guess I have to agree that I really don't follow the Rockets forum much anymore, either. There was a period of about a few days or weeks where I never went in there at all. I'm one of those sidekick posters... I need someone to feed off who is a catalyst. All the catalysts have long gone. :(

Before 9/11 I hade posted a total of 1 or 2 posts in the Hangout. I was at around 750+ posts then... All in the Rockets forum. Sim-leagues do not interest me, and I'm not here to talk about other teams.

Since then, I've probably posted a total of 20-30 posts in the Rockets forum. This season has just lost my attention; now I always check it second, and even then it's usually a disappointment and not worth posting in. I truly hope that is temporary.

What would this site be without the ubiquitous "Big Ass Gorditas or anything else" rule? I don't know about you guys, but it's helping me weather the storm (both the war and the nightmare season)...

Hopefully one day the Rockets forum will regain its lost lustre. And my attention.

Yes, I totally agree with what most have said. However the truth is that with all the publicity (SI, ESPN, 610.. etc.) giving kudos to clutchcity.net, there is bound to be an influx of posters who are not as "intelligent" as people who have been posting here since back in the day. The same posters who made that forum great are now either not posting or drowned out by all the mess that is on there now. This is pretty unfortunate, but the price you pay for that publicity. My hope is that it will never deteriorate to the “intelligence” of an ESPN board.

Man thank you Mr.Minniefield. :D I've been wanting to say it because something looked wrong, but I thought, "Hey, maybe it's just me and maybe it's just that I'm not as attached (as in watching night and day) to the Rockets as I was back in the day. Maybe that's why I have lost interest in the forum." But hell was I wrong. That forum has been full of a bunch of newbie, lets trade this guy for this guy, i hate rudy, when are we gonna get (Insert player/coach name here), the rockets suk, vince carter...a rocket?, etc... crap that I don't even go there anymore. My stops are as follows:

NBA Dish
BBS Hangout
Texans, Astros.....etc.....

Someone needs to start up a thread or a forum simply for newbies. And no I am not "newbie hatin'" I was a newbie back in my day and you gotta be dissed before you can learn anything. My first diss I recieved from Mario17 or something like that. He's not here anymore but he put me down after my first post, and after a few 100 posts more, I was a vet. Please take my advice and don't post here until you have read at least 3-6 months of BBS Talk. Then you will truly be ONE with the GREAT ONES. :D

I have generally stopped posting in the Rockets forum some time ago, with quality being one of the reasons (another being the simple fact that I now can no longer watch any games).

Even though I think this forum has deteriorated a bit, it still can hold more of my interest. At least when things deteriorate here, they can be amusing or entertaining instead of annoying.

Oh well, life moves on and the Rockets still interest me.

I couldn't agree more. I only look over the Rockets forum now to take a quick look and check for any valid trade rumors.

It's different for me, though. I don't have NBA League Pass, so I don't get a whole lot of the games. I refuse to post in that forum until I have something halfway intelligent to add. The Hangout is where it's at, and has been for a while. The fact is, there are some really intelligent people that post on this site, and I come here to discuss ideas and listen to opinions.

It's sad, but a lot of the time, this is where I get my current events information. :(

The Hangout is the first and only forum here I really click on. I'll start paying closer attention to the Rockets forum when the offseason is winding down.

Lets kick all the junior members out. From now on, to register, you have to conduct an interview with an Admin via email.

I haven't seen 10 Rocket games in the last 5 years so it is hard for me to post much there. That was an intolerant bunch over there. I think that's where the rumors of The Clique got started!
That is still a pretty harsh forum.

Manners are all but gone.

I came to this site before the 2000 Draft when the Rockets had the 9th pick. Professonal drafts have always been my favorite sporting events. Pryzbilla? Collier? Najera! Langhi?

The Hangout can be a harsh environment, but discussion is promoted most of the time.. instead of just being shot down.

I come to the Hangout first. I do like the breakout of "Texans, Astros, Comets" though.

Uhh... (shuffling feet) I think that me and Manny got that whole "Clique" thing going.

How were we to know that we were totally wrong, that a Clique was really needed, and it would end up residing in the Hangout?

We are all wrong sometimes. :)

Damn, tree...I know that you explained earlier about it, but I post pictures of some hot chicks like Charlize Theron, Claudia Schiffer, Carmen Electra, etc. and I also helped you with the "clique" angle...one of the greatest plots in the history of the BBS and you still voted for Rocketman Tex??? Harumph!!

You still have an hour to change your vote

Can you guys (<b>treeman</b> and <b>MannyRamirez</b> )explain your version of The Clique?

Maybe a new thread would be appropriate.

I observed a few posters who just went after anyone critical of the beloved Rockets. Since those attacked tended to be new posters, the idea of an inner circle protecting something came to my mind.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem? Seems like we're all just hanging out here (in the Hangout!) complaining about a bunch of little wienies who took over our place. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do now that we see there is a problem?

I do like the idea of a "kiddy pool" for early-on posters as a way to cut their teeth, but it might discourage long-time lurkers from coming out of the shadows if they feel they have to wade around in that place before getting to post with the people they may already know.
