If we had acquired Josh Smith and Corey Brewer TODAY, as well as K.J. McDaniels and Pablo Prigioni (all for Troy Daniels, Isiaiah Canaan, and 3 2nd round picks), I think everybody would have been ready to build a statue of Morey outside Toyota Center. Some of you need to get a grip, and stop being so neurotic.
I'm not gonna blame Morey for missing out on Melo(pursuing him instead of Lowry on the other hand....). He was always going back to the Knicks. And thank God he did. Could you imagine having him under contract right now given his current injury status? With Dwight having the knee issue on top of that. Bosh took the money, sunny beaches of Miami, and carefree environment where no one was demanding he deliver a title to an organization starving for one. In retrospect, I'm kinda glad he did. Yes, getting Bosh and resigning Parsons would've given the Rockets a pretty damn good starting 5(when Dwight's healthy anyway). But we would've had no money left over for a bench which means no D-Mo, no T-Jones, no Terry, no Brewer, and no Smith. Lowry was a major F-up. I've been riding Morey for that since last summer. We'll never know how good a shot we had at luring him back here, but what we do know is that Morey and Les prioritized Melo over Lowry and even at the time I thought that was a stupid decision. Dragic? I'm with Morey on that one. Why give away valuable assets for a 2-3 month rental? Especially when you're looking at having to shell out 20+ mil/yr to keep him this summer. If we're gonna spend that kinda jack on a PG, let's save it for a top 5 player, not a guy who's never made an All-Star team and is about to turn 29.
Lmao. I don't think standing pat is a failure. We lost pieces that were never going to be used to gain pieces that could be used in the rotation. That's a success.
shhhh don't tell it like it is, some people think the trade deadline is the only time you are meant to get things done
I'm not going to rage like OP, but I don't disagree. Going into last offseason, Morey was saying we needed a third star to contend and Parsons didn't fit the bill. To get the team flexible enough to get this third star, he traded Asik for a liquid asset that can't contribute to wins, paid someone to take Lin off our hands, and let Parsons walk for cap space. He then did not get the third star during the offseason. Nor did he get him in midseason trades for Brewer and Smith. Nor did he get one now at the trade deadline. I'm sure acquiring stars -- even third stars -- isn't easy. And, he'll get another bit at the apple on draft night, and then again in the offseason. But, he's burned 1 more season now of the Harden/Howard era. If a 3-star strategy is what Morey's really going with, there's some real urgency to get the show on the road.
Detroit acquires: PG Reggie Jackson (from Thunder) Oklahoma City acquires: C Enes Kanter (from Jazz), SF Steve Novak (from Jazz), PG D.J. Augustin (from Pistons), SF Kyle Singler (from Pistons) WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF OKC GOT SO MUCH!!!! DJ CAN BALL.. AND NOVAK COULD BE DEADLY IN THE PLAYOFFS?!!?! UGHHHHHHHHHH WHY CAN'T MOREY BE COOL...
With all due respect, I don't think you're a real fan if you only watch your team when they're winning or contending. And guess what? The team IS winning and we still have these kinds of posts. Some of these over dramatic debbie downers reminds me of the spoiled kids that throws a hissy fit everytime she's not happy.
Harden's only 26, and the season isn't even done. Not sure how DM's burned a year considering we got Brewer, McDaniels, Smith, Ariza, Terry all in this season. BTW the Rox are a top 3-4 team in the west with Dwight out for a long time.
The Whole Rockets team needs to play like their asses are on fire and just start killing other teams, starting with Dallas!!!!!! I hope Rockets finish 3rd in the Western Conference, & advance to the 2nd round but I doubt it. We needed a Point Guard to take the burden off Harden, but Pablo Prigioni is an okay backup PG who shoots the 3 ball very well & can defend at his age. #Rockets #Pursuit
I'm just using the yard stick Morey provided. He said we needed a third star to contend. Maybe he was just saying that to insult Parsons, but he has gone on and made moves to gear up for this third star transaction so I'm taking him at his word. We're doing well so far and we could make some noise in the playoffs. Maybe with a little luck we can win it all. But that's not the measure. Morey said he needed to get a third star and he hasn't. He set a strategy and didn't execute. So -- as far as his own personal performance against plan goes -- he has burned the season. Even if we win a championship, he burned it. (Worse, if we win a championship, not only did he not execute on his strategy, but the strategy itself was wrong.)
