Dwight POST-UP initiated play is not very effective. Once in a while is fine, but I prefer him doing only a few things - rebound, block, alter shots, set screens, dunk. Now, if he have great position in the paint, get the ball to the man.

Whether Dwight's post-up is effective or not depends on a number of factors-- match-ups, opposing team's coverage, etc. He is not so horrible at it that it's never worth it, but he is also not good enough at it for these post-ups to be a go-to weapon in every situation like it is with Shaq or Hakeem.

In a best of 7 series, there is some opportunity to try things out and act according to the results. If Dwight beats Bogut as regularly as he did Lopez last season, then sure, use it as a weapon. On the other hand, if post-ups end up not being an effective option compared to other plays, the Rockets should try something else after giving it a shot.

They are going to post him up some in Game 1 just to test the water. If it's successful, they'll continue. If not, they'll go away from it.

At least that's what I would do if I were the coach. :)

My main gripe with his post ups isn't about how effective or not he is, it's that it basically takes our best offensive weapon out of the picture. Dwight does not pass out of the post often or very well for that matter.

He dominated Lopez last year, but I think the constant post ups got us out of our normal offense and it hurt us overall. To me Dwight is most devastating and the biggest plus to our team when he avoids the post ups. It can't be a go to option, best reserved for when a scrambling or switching defense finds a very optimal mismatch.

Even if Dwight have a polished post game the offense shouldn't go through it. Two big reason:

1)Other players don't spend a lot of energy defending their man so they are extra strong on the offensive end.
2)Dwight is a terrible passer from the post so the offense rhythm is compromised.

Portland baited the rockets into this fallacy letting Dwight dominant last year playoffs and resulted in bricked city and an early exit.

You surely recall how Dwight acknowledged his post-ups don't work and he should play like when in Orlando - basically the way you are seeing him play right now. That occurred right before he came back from injury. I was ecstatic because I knew only Dwight can lift this team with selfless play or bury it with his postups. I'm glad he took one for the team.

Need give a try first to see if it is going to be ok or not. Howard need to be super in order to win the series.

I think Turnovers went down because we stopped trying to do behind the back bounce passes in traffic.
I don't recall a high number of turnovers off entry passes or pass outs by dwight

I do recall alot from 50 ft cross court passes off drive and dishes to one side then back to the other

Not saying it is a bad thing
but to blame Turnovers on Dwight posting up . . .is just IMO . . wrong

I've always said the same thing

Dwight is 100x better off PNR and passes to him while he's already moving

    He's terrible doing 1v1 postup

Well so much for that. Rockets went back to stupidly posting up Dwight and Golden State as a result is eating into the lead.

It really doesn't matter who is guarding Dwight. He's just bad at posting up. The problem is Dwight, not his man

Maddening. Absolutely maddening. We barely lost that game and the possessions we threw away due to the Dwight postups cost us.
