The Rockets don’t have power forwards. They have soft forwards.

They jus tshould just call T-Jones back up, play him 30+ a game and just go from there. Aside from starting Patrick Beverley featuring MAZE over Lin, what else can we do?

That's not true. Look at the shot charts.

Patterson took 3/8 shots from mid range, 1 from inside the paint, and 4 from behind the arc (mostly open). He made 1/8 shots (it was a 3 pointer).

    http://espn.go.com/nba/shotchart?gameId=400278307

If they move and get open they get the ball, and they're free to drive for a mid range or 3 point shot.

Here's Patterson's January breakdowns prior to tonight...

    Rim - 9/9
    3-9 Feet - 4/10
    10-15 Feet - 2/5
    16-23 Feet - 8/9
    3 point - 8/23

So, 23/43 shots are at the 3 point line, or a little over 53%.

And even if you're arguing his role at the 3 point line is dragging down his offense, it still doesn't explain his lack of rebounding and questionable boxing out.

DMo has played like what, 40 minutes total? I will not go ahead and call him and TJones soft just yet.

53% of his shots are at the Three point line....

For a PF who shot 0 three point shots in his first 2 years in the league to suddenly be taking more than 50% of his shots from 3 point range to me means... he's camping out from the 3 during most of the offensive sets.

He might make cuts towards the buckets every once in awhile, but even Ryan Anderson and Channing Frye find their way in the paint every once in awhile.

Look, Im guilty of watching the games and posting on the fly without fact checking every stat. So naturally what I observe might be embellished what I see a bit, but you aren't going to convince me that the Rockets ARENT camping Patterson and Morris out at 3 point land on offense. Im not dreaming that up.

53% for Patterson .... is way more than necessary for a guy who has not a 3 point specialist.

Also when Morris was first drafted one of his strongest attributes was his post game he had in college. Looks like he has completely tossed that part of his game to the curb this year.

Look, Im not blaming anyone here for the 3's from the PF position. There is good reason for them spacing the floor for their two best offensive players.

Im just saying that its something to think about moving forward. I think they might want to look at adding some diversity on the offensive end that might better suite the PF/C position to get more active in the offense.

I have been saying we need a solid 4 for a long long time. Aka not Josh Smith.

Pat and Morris has had ample time and they haven't delivered. Why not try Jones and D-Mo?

Morris or Patpat are no Landry or Scola. Either of those guys would have done wonders for this team.

quick question? Can Morris and/or Patterson be sent down to the dleague to make room for Jones? Is this not a consideration cause it might lower there trade value. They have brought Beverly up and it seems he is sticking. Maybe I'm nuts but it seems both Morris and Patterson needs to be sent down.

Yeah I don't understand how DMo is getting thrown into that group. The guy only plays in garbage time and even then its usually only for a minute or two. Calling him anything at this point is unfair.

Dmo may be soft but we won't know for sure until he gets some real minutes. In 36 minutes tonight Paterson and Morris had 2 rebounds and 4 points on 1 for 13 shooting. I know they don't play that bad every night but I think it has to be time to give Dmo and or Jones some playing time.

Pump DMo full of this stuff, and let the magic happen.

Maybe we're protecting him from other teams' trade offer requests?

The way Morey keeps drafting 4's every year, McHale is obliged to play them because Moreyball requires trading away players before they can ask for money.

Where are all the 2pat defense lovers.
2 years reading he was a better defender than scola.
    Sorry luis!

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with trying a few post-ups or positioning patterson on the elbow, it's not like Harden and Lin can't penetrate without a stretch-4, they've both donr it before. You've got a PF who can score at the rim and has a good mid-range jumper and you make him camp for threes, of course he's not going to play well.

How did you get the number 43 in "23/43 shots...53%"? It should be 23/56 shots and 41%, right?

If Morey is to look for a new PF to fit in with McHale's system with Patterson's January shot distribution, he'd have a hard time getting a PF that can dominate the post and shoot 3Ps 53% of the time with at least 33% 3P%. is it too much to ask of a PF?

Why the 33% 3P% requirement? I figure with our current 35.9% 3P%, any thing below 33% would become a drag for the team.

Still not sure about D-Mo cause' he takes only garbage time and you can't tell if he can dunk over nba players, score in the paint and etc. But yeah, I've seen enough of PPat and Morris - they are soft as hell.
