To say Morey knows what he is doing would be a MASSIVE understatement. I wasn't kidding when I said it earlier, he has been prepared for this for a very long time. All he needed was for the Clippers to actually want to trade Chris Paul. The moment the Clippers called him about completing a trade now, he sprung into action. He knew exactly what he needed to do and he executed it perfectly.
We wouldn't. But if we don't have a trade in place by July 7, we will be able to take back a couple less million in salary. So we don't need to have the off-season plans figured out in a week, we just lose flexibility the longer it takes.
Yes, this has been done before. Not to the extent of acquiring so many small contracts, but it's been done. The Pelicans actually did it as part of the Omer Asik trade in 2014 by trading for Alonzo Gee first and flipping him to us. The Rockets tried to get larger non-guaranteed deals first (Mike Miller, Boris Diaw, etc). but those fell through so they had to shell out cash for all these small ones.
That's true. Sounded like it was a sure thing, only reason I shared. So many moving parts, especially around the draft, that the most credible rumors can make anyone look silly after they don't happen.
Yeah i understand, and don't get me wrong, i wasn't talking **** at you at all, just joking about that, i think you have definitely some sort of connections since you also stated the Spurs were going to look to trade Green before that news came out
fwiw: even if we don't use Kelley in trade as a "TPE," it's not a total loss. According to spotrac, he helped us go over the cap to get the full MLE and BAE.
He said Rubio is still in play and I don't know my numbers. Which sucks because that statement is half true
Gay, Patterson, Miles, Snell should be the main FA targets for this money window. Then they could use the full MLE on PJ Tucker.
