Twas a rhetorical question, but thanks for answering, nonetheless, as your post helps remind us, too. We obviously lucked out by Redick turning us down, so we had to turn to PJ, instead. We nearly won a championship last year. Redick is a pile of
lol i kinda sorta thought it was rhetorical in nature. to be more specific, i think the first guy on Morey's list was Igoudala, and when GS finally caved and gave him that offer, we turned our sights onto JJ.
Besides the guards no one on the team has any handles so they cant drive. Thats why house looked so good here even though he was just average at best
no doubt about it Redick 3pt% in the regular season: 2015-2016: 47.5% 2016-2017: 42.9% 2017-2018: 42% 2018-2019: 37.9% Redick 3pt% in the playoffs: 2015-2016: 35.5% 2016-2017: 34.6% 2017-2018: 34.7%
in fairness, the idea was to then turn around and trade Gordon for someone. We didn't know at the time PJ was the perfect 4 for us.
Morey's dodged quite a few bullets that summer that most of us don't think about. I think the plan was to bring in Iggy at like 14-15 million a year (or some crazy number) via S&T (most likely moving Gordon like you said) and then use the MLE on Redick. I doubt we would have gotten to Game 7 with a broken down Iggy and a jekyll/hyde Redick.
Actually the numbers were not a bad as the length. The 2016 cap spike created a lot of inflated salaries. But Morey broke his M.O. of not giving a 4th year to role players and signed two guys, one with questionable health, the other with questionable motor. Those were huge gambles. I don't know if it was because he realized how big a mistake that was or something else, he went back to his no-4th-year philosophy. Not only that, he seems to be going back to the "star or bargain bin" approach now.
Our defense is horrible, so I’m really baffled we’ve not gone all in on offense! Morey, can you finally get us some three point shooters?!! Daniels would be perfect, at least he will make those shots!!
