Red Holzman had Willis Reed and Walt Frazier (two HOFers and true superstars) along with Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, and Dick Barnet during his best season. Later they added Earl "the Pearl" Monroe and Jerry Lucas when they won their second NBA championship under Holzman. Sure, getting all the players to play as a team is vital, but it is hard to say he didn't have any superstars to lead with.
Oh, and to asnwer the OP's question, it is hard to not say the Rocket's weakest position is small forward. Sure seems Battier lost a step defensively and was even less willing to be a part of the offense last season. Hopefully Yao's return will help on both fronts (able to gamble more on defense knowing Yao is in the paint; more wlling to take the open spot-up jumper since defenses will collapse more on Yao in the block). Also hopefully C-Bud's development will mean more rest for Battier. It will be interesting to see how posters respond to Battier's play next year. At his best there was healthy debate (those favoring his "intangibles" why others wishing the team had Rudy Gay instead).
