We have alot of ??? Though. Patrick Patterson, Donatus Montajunas, and Marcus Morris. These guys go with Kevin Martin a ? what he is himself. I think Kevin is just as close to that as you could possibly be without actually being a star. So he is an almost star about 90%. Scola is a very good role player on a Championship team and so is Lowry. We have a team of almosts which ironically follows Moreys career and character so far. I cant wait until we actualy get the guy. This team is good. It needs that.. You know. Something almost there. :)

Leads the NBA in scoring his rookie year, then leads the league in rebounding his second. Impressive. We stopped in his hometown, Rayville, La on the Free Agency Caravan.

    & don't forget Rudy T was a 5 time All-Star!

Just got finished reading Rudy T's "A Rocket at Heart". He talks about his career as a Rocket player, scout, and coach, and it was both exciting & depressing reading about all of the past star Rockets players since the beginning and the championship years and being too young to witness that and at the same time knowing we don't have players on our team of that caliber.

It'll be interesting to see what Rockets players jerseys will be in stores this season. Brooks, Scola and Yao dominated the jerseys in store last year, with Martin and Battier somewhat present. With 3 of the main 5 jerseys gone, and no superstar, I wonder what we'll see in stores. It's about time for some Lowry!

Murph wasn't much of a star in 82-83. He was at the end of his career by then. Elvin Hayes was on that team, too, but he sure as heck wasn't a star. That team was horrific. I remember watching them play and wanting to cry as a kid. Any team lead by Allen Leavell and James Bailey in scoring is damn-near "starless".

No, there was a one year gap after Moses left.

The image-conscious gentlemen who run the NBA will not be pleased by Platt's revealing look at the league. A Philadelphia magazine senior writer, he has crafted an intense behind-the-scenes account of the 1997-98 NBA season by following five playersACharles Barkley, Matt Maloney, Jerry Stackhouse, Chris Webber and Vernon "Mad Max" Maxwell. Having been granted intimate access to the five players, Platt offers a first-hand look at how they handle the temptationsAwomen, drugs, the wrong friendsAof their elite position and negotiate a delicate balance between team and individual responsibilitiesAand sometimes fail. Race is an inescapable subtext of the book as Platt dwells on the difference between "'90s gangsta" players like Maxwell and stars like Michael Jordan and Grant Hill, "crossover" figures who appeal to white America and thus to corporations looking for endorsement pitchmen. Platt, who calls himself "a short, bald, white Jew who was always asking annoying questions," clearly sympathizes with the players against the "suits." He often adopts hip-hop lingo (as in the title) and argues that the conservative mindset of league executives fails to respect the street sensibility of today's young stars. He also has unkind words for most white sportswriters, believing that they are simply jealous of rich, young black men, a phenomenon he calls "playa hating." Some readers will surely think Platt too indulgent of NBA players, but there's no doubt that he presents a picture of these athletes that looks beyond the common caricatures of the role model and the gangsta.

Don Kojis was a two-time All-Star for the Rockets. So there.

Yeah, I pointed that out in my first post. Shroopy brought up Calvin, which though no longer a star or hall of fame caliber player, was still on the Rockets the year before Ralph. So technically there wasn't a gap.

Not a franchise player, especially at his age, there was a one year gap.

And the gap was only one year, because the Rockets tanked. Are you paying attention Les? Tanking speeds up the rebuilding process.

HA HA. So true. Funny and sad at the same time.

But the overall situation is really depressing. Especially because of how the YAO+TMAC era ended. Hardly any results for such huge potential and hope. And now we have nothing. Martin is the closest thing we have for an all-star and only GOD knows when we are getting our next franchise caliber player.

Kyle Lowry is better than Steve Francis. I'm sorry, he's just more of a winning type of player.

Barkley said the Rockets only won rings because MJ wasn't playing. Not only did he diss the two rings, he also said Yao wouldn't score double digits his rookie year. He even hated on the team last year, saying we were clearly the worst team in the west. I thought you were a true rocket fan tinman. Why you love the Rocket hater Tinman?!?!?!?!?

On topic, I think its quite refreshing to see a team without so-called stars. The team had stars before, but all of them were quite flawed: Francis didn't have a brain, Tmac didn't have heart and Yao Ming had the legs of Mr. Glass.

Nowadays I feel really good about this team. Its not like we don't have talent on the roster, some guys like Kmart and Lowry are already at the cusp of stardom. I'm pretty sure we'll surprise a lot of people once the season finally starts.

If Francis qualifies as a star, then we already have at least two stars on this team + a couple in the making perhaps.
