According to NBA Attendance Report - 2013, the Rockets are the 2nd most-welcomed NBA team, behind the Lakers and ahead of all the other NBA teams.

When the Rockets come to town, an average of 18,823 fans would go to the stadium to watch the Rockets against their home team. The numbers are 19,029 for the Lakers and 18,464 for the Heat.

What are the reasons the Rockets are so welcomed by the fans of the opposite teams? Here are some possible reasons:

1. The Rockets are a respected team with a great tradition
2. The Rockets have a superstar in James Harden
3. ......

Jeremy Lin is the main reason. We all know it, so there's no reason to replace it with "..."

Alos trying to find the logic in Kings being 4. Is it their SOS, and theyve just played good teams that sell out at home regularly, like the Lakers?

Is this an improvement over previous years?

If so, I'm sorry it's not Harden... it's Lin.

It's always Asian Heritage Night whenever the Rockets play a road game.

FWIW, home attendance is a bit higher than last seasons so far as we'll.

Also, I wonder what the lack of games on local TV is doing to attendance figures. Must piss off some fans into not supporting team.

I don't think those numbers are working out quite like Les Alexander hoped :)

Those 4k people every game would've brought in a lottt of cash...

I was looking at this a while back, my biggest question was how the hell are the kings right there? Jimmer?

I wonder why Lin's not getting star calls yet. Dude is a certified money making machine.

Fail to mention that it goes like:
4) Kings
5) Nets
6) Mavs
7) Celtics
8) Bulls
9) Knicks
10) Spurs
11) Thunder

As in 2012 WCF wasn't in top 10. Slight suspicion that Kings games are popular because it's nice to see the home team win; wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason Rockets rank so high is because of that. (Hopefully the Rockets can break some hearts in the future :grin)

Also, Rockets didn't have that many away games early in the schedule, and of their away games, it included a sold-out MSG for Lin's return, a packed Xmas day game in Chicago, and Staples Center, so that probably skewed the numbers somewhat.

Plus, Jeremy Lin. No need to be coy.

Perhaps. Also, part of it may be luck. It is still early in the season, so if you've had road games at the home of popular teams and have not yet visited the Pistons and the Bucks, your avg road attendance figure would be higher.

Lin is a factor for Houston, though. For example, last night's game vs Minny had the 4th highest attendance (they sell standing room only tickets when seats are sold out) in TEAM HISTORY. Asian fans with Taiwanese flag spotted in lower bowl. Same thing happened last yr with NYK road games

3. Jeremy Lin.

I already have my tickets for when they come play the Sacramento Kings. 2 hour drive to go see the Rockets play :D

I think it's the Toney Douglas appreciation nights across the league.

Play him more in the 4th.

I blame Comcast for the home game drop.

The kings have Jimmer and the likely win probably helps... Also a lot of people like to see what cuz will do. The kings have had so much creaking potential it's not even funny. But they are so hard to root for... So I know it's not that
