The Rockets are one of the WORST 3-point shooting teams in the league. They need shooters bad.

Hawes can also play off of Howard, though that's probably not his best fit.

I wonder if there is a cheap way to get Patterson back.

    Bev / Lin
    Harden / Dunleavy
    Parsons / Dunleavy
    Patterson / TJones
    Howard / Hawes

If we could get Patterson back that would be huge.

Too big a cap hold going into the off season and we most likely aren't going to be willing to sign him before somebody else offers him Taj Gibson money.

It would be a 1/2 season rental. We would have to get him on the cheap, and then not give him a qualifying offer. Not a long term solution, but I think that's coming in 2014 or 2015 free agency anyway.

At some point, you need to think about making Harden and Howard happy, but at the same time make sure that doesn't interfere with your long term goals. Patterson is that type of move.

If we could acquire Patterson for the contracts of Ronnie Brewer and Greg Smith.....I'd do that deal. But that's a lateral move at best for Toronto. Uriji would undoubtedly trade Patterson but he's gonna want picks or a young player back. And that would not be worth a half-season rental.

We went from one of the best 3pt shooting teams to one of the worst welcome to rockets basketball where success is only temporary

Our assist numbers are also down - you look at Lin and he is definitely playing a different kind of basketball than last year. I think having Lin as the starter and Bev injured has created some problems as we don't have that 2nd unit point guard to give us a spark. I think guys like Casspi and Garcia suffer from that a bit.

The point about the 4 is good. But I also do think this team is still figuring it out - they are young and things aren't quite clicking. That's not a bad thing as we're not clicking perfectly yet and we are still 23-14. It's not like we are barely over 500.

Lin and Parson are obviously not stars but I still think if we had an upgrade at the 4 we'd be fine. A Paul Milsap would really be a nice player next to DH and would probably result in everyone thing offensively meshing better. But until that kind of trade, I think we're just watching the growing pains of a young team and there's not much that can be done.

Our shooting numbers aren't going to change for the better when Beverley returns. In fact they are likely to get worse. If you put Beverley back with the starters (which I fully expect they will), he has less penetration ability and less shooting ability than Lin does. That means more dribble-drive attempts by Jones and less efficient shooting on the perimeter with Bev instead of Lin.

The possible good coming from Bev's return is getting runouts from the defensive havoc he creates.

But we should all know by now that in the playoffs and Finals games are won and lost in half-court execution. IF we're throwing the ball around out there to guys that are shooting 29% from the perimeter....it's simply not going to work.

I agree, if his injury is leverage we could use, I would trade Asik straight up for him. Dwight, Sullinger, and Drummond all have had herniated disks within recent years and it seems like an NBA player can still have a productive career after some recovery time.

Delfino had been playing with the fractured foot in the playoffs. He went on record saying that he felt something wrong in his foot after that specific dunk on Durant. Don't really understand where the bolded sentence same from.

Maybe it's because Harden takes around 6 3's a game. And he's only shooting....oh wow. We should let Garcia and Casspi shoot more 3's! I mean they're getting paid only for the 3 ball and they're shooting.....well crap. I mean Beverley was an amazing spot up shooter last year, he must be shooting....really?

Basically the only good shooters Rockets have right now is Brooks and Parsons. Brooks minutes will disappear when Beverley comes back. Yeah Rockets need to either relearn the 3 or work on it ALOT.

Somewhat true. Rockets were 9th last year in 3pt% at 36.6%.

So they've gone from 9th to 24th from last year to this year.

I think Lin plays better with Bev in the line-up. Seems Lin has regressed since Bev went out. Just an observation that may simply be a coincidence.

This team is only dangerous if they signed someone like Korver, Reddick, Dundlevey. Too bad they don't have the money to do that and had to settle on players like Brewer and Casspi.

Teams that don't play defense like the Rockets will rely on 3point shooting to win in the playoffs. They will most likely be eliminated in the first round if they don't get home court

    Rockets - 26.3 attempts @ 34.1% (bottom 10 in the NBA
Blazers - 26.1 attempts @ 39.5% (best in the NBA)
    Suns - 26.2 attempts @ 36.9% (#8)

Streaky is the best way to describe Rockets. Might drop 120 pts on one night and struggle to score 90 the next. Ironically, this makes them dangerous

Get a pure PG for Lin/Asik and maybe the 3pt shooting will improve
