well.. HELL no. i'm not wasting any assets to trade for a guy who doesn't fit our timeline. now fox or booker? well, it depends on the offer, but every single game gives me more confidence in our core. i even started believing in jalen again.

Pass. KD is just too old for me to be interested in this at all. I don't want to give up a lot of assets for any player over 30. Sure KD is really good, but I don't even think he's going to be in the NBA anymore when Jalen/Sengun/Amen are in their prime. I don't see why we would ever do this.

This is where I stand. I'd love to add KD to this team, but only if it didn't mean sacrificing the young core and too many future picks.

Imagine creating this much pressure and leverage in our favor just to give it all up for a 36 year old Durant who we've been successfully betting against for the last few years. I'm not saying trading for Durant can't help our title chances this year and next, but I think we can do it for a lot less while still keeping some assets.

We could also keep those picks and see what we have with our team these playoffs so we can make a better move this off-season or next. Every season that goes by we pay off our debt from the Westbrook trade while having additional picks that could end up being very valuable while having more data about our own guys to make better decisions.

    No way.

Durant is one of the main reasons we're shorting PHX now. It's not his playing ability that's in doubt, but his....availability. There's ernomous downside risk here which we don't need to expose ourselves to.

I would but for not much more than picks - and a couple role players.

He just isn't worth it for a young piece.

We are already 2nd in the West, if we can add him for peanuts, great if not...who cares?

Said in another thread but FVV+ filler (no young guys)+ picks

    For

    KD and Tyus Jones

    Id do it.

A starting lineup of Sengun, Amen, KD, Green, Tyus gives you a legit chance to contend with Adams, Jabari, Brooks, Tari (?), Cam/Holiday/Reed as reserves.

Yeah, I could get behind that, so long as it's not a lot of "picks."

Would happily take on Durant but only if we absolutely rob Phoenix, but they're not doing bad enough to get robbed.

Yes. It's just a function of the cost. Small cost, FVV/Reed one phoenix pick and one Rocket pick (which will be late FRP) is worth the gamble. Durant played over 70 games last year and is still playing at a superstar level when healthy. We would also be able to load manage him, whereas, the Suns are playing him monster minutes. Since his contract is 2 years and we would be unloading FVV's contract, it does not screw our flexibility our our core and gives us a shot at a title the next 2 years. Anything more than that is not worth the gamble.

we don't need to win this year so i'm good without him. those picks are going to be really valuable us to bring in talent on cheap contracts when we are paying all our studs.

One thing that I will say from my perspective...

I wanted us to tank and had to go through the pains of both wanting to tank and actually the tanking experience. I knew it would be a 3-year tank from the Westbrook trade obligations so when we were horrible it wasn't as hard for me as it was for the fan base as a whole. I also knew it would take about 4-8 years to see the benefits of the tank -- whether we drafted a true top 5 player, a collection of all stars with complementary pieces, or we traded our way to it. The first three years were hard, and the last year and a half has been very fun. Part of the fun of this season is relative to my expectations. I expected us to be about 5-9 seed.

The fact that we are 2nd and have a lot of improvement left AND the assets to make improvements (even go all in for a single big piece) makes this season one of the most fun I've had as a fan in 30 years. The MOMENT we trade for Durant, the expectation for me is championship or bust -- assuming we give up FVV + multiple picks. We'd be giving up future assets that could be used for a star in the future or the perfect missing piece when our core is ready. If we do that we would have to win it all for me to really enjoy the season more than our current path. Getting to the WCF and losing doesn't sound as fun to me as the ride we're riding now where we could be potentially building a multi-year contender UNLESS if we were to win it all while still having a path to compete for rings in the future. I get there's risks in every move, but that's where I'm at on trading for Durant.

At this point Rockets front office will trade for him if PHX gives 2031 first round pick with KD for a FVV

Jabari Reed Landale Jeff Green and the first this year or keep this year pick and give them their 2 picks back, since we can hope for flagg,

hold all the other picks away from them..

Then move Dillion brooks to bench and start FFV Jalen amen Durant Sengun

That's a contender immediately this year

I got an even better idea!

    3 team trade

    PHX Receives : Their Picks

    2nd Team ____________ Receives: Durant

Houston Receives: 2nd Teams young star _____________.

Y'all fill in the 2nd team and who the Rockets receive back.

Even then, those picks could end up being WAY more valuable to our future than a couple of years of KD at the end of his career.

Were those 4 FRPs we coughed up for Westbrook worth it? Would even ONE pick have been worth it.

We should stand pat with the core for now. Only make trades that might improve the end of our rotation or reduce contracts so we can pay these young guys down the road.

I'm in the minority then. I'd like to at least hear the offer.

    Due diligence.
