Thank you so much for this! I just thought everyone else here was crazy until I tried this trick...now I can change her whenever I do this and take my hands away...until I tell myself again that she's going clockwise...and blammo, she's back to normal.
I compiled a list based on the initial thoughts/reactions from all the posters opined thus far. Those who said clockwise outnumber the ones who said counter clockwise by more than 2 to 1. If the original author meant to make this a simple left-brainer vs right-brainer test, his objective seemed to fail miserably. The result simply runs opposite to his original claim.
It is a timed GIF where after a few seconds it changes. Clockwise to Anti-Clockwise and back. ITS A HOAX.
This has been failed to be addressed... Why is it that, in the spinning image, her left leg is extended at one point...while at another point, her right leg is extended? Based on her boobs and her pony tail, it is clear which leg is the left one and which is the right one. Seriously people, I cant believe you guys dont realize that the image is changing...it is not the same thing and your brain doesnt just reverse it. Keep an eye on which leg is the one sticking out...and then when it reverses after about a minute, you can see the other leg is extended. This is proof that the image is changing. EDIT When the right leg is extended, she is moving CW...when the left leg is extended, she is moving CCW. In any case, to truly find out if you are right brained or left brained, you take a series of questions.
The image does not change. I am now able to see it spinning either direction on command. All I do is put it in my perriphreal vision and imagine it spinning the other direction.. works every time.
there are numerous people who can only see it one way no matter how long they've tried. I doubt that the gif changes direction.
I can see both directions...but again...why is this not being answered by those claiming they can change it at will: Why is her left leg sometimes extended and why is her right leg sometimes extended? The ONLY explanation to that is that the image changes. And it is clear which leg is left and right, so that part isnt an optical illusion.
The Ultimate Guide to the "Silhouette Dancer" by Franchise3 Alright ladies and gentleman, I am going to go ahead and break down this brainteaser for you because this thread is making me laugh my ass off... This entire thread has been making me laugh because there are so many people in it arguing around in circles. I feel like this thread is a metaphor for something...but I can't quite figure out what it is, but a couple of quotes are running through my mind: "Perception is reality." "There are three sides to every story. Yours, mine, and the truth...Memories shared serve each one differently." Funny how two people can look at the same thing and adamantly argue that they see different things. Anyone remember the old story about a college professor that passed out a picture of a woman (see pic below) and asked the class what they saw. On one side of the room a student raised his hand and said, "I see an old woman." Then, on the other side of the room a student said, "Old woman? What are you talking about? It's a young beautiful woman, she can't be a day over 25!" The argument went on and on, spiraling into name-calling and personal attacks over the perception of each student. But, as we all know, both students were correct. The photo contained a photo of both an old and a young woman depending on how you looked at it. Now, does anyone remember drawing 3-d line boxes back in school? You would contstruct a "3-d" box out of a couple of squares attached by each corner by straight lines. Some people might remember that you could see the box manifest itself in different ways depending on how you looked at it. Two pictures of the exact same box. Look at the one on the left. Do you see how the square outlined in red can be the front of the box? Look at the one on the right. Do you see how the square on that one can be the front of the box? This brain teaser works in the same way. Our eyes can play many tricks on our brain when we try to formulate a 3-d image out of a 2-d picture. The dancer is no different than the boxes above. When you look at a shadow on the ground, how can you tell whether it is a shadow of the front of a person, or of the back of a person? You can't because the shadow is the exact same both ways. Do you remember in grade school when you would lie down on a large piece of paper and trace yourself? You couldn't tell if it was the front or the back of a person at first...but then you filled in the details. You drew a smiley face on the head. You drew a belt with a shiney belt buckle. Etc and so on. This dancer is the same thing. She is a silhouette, a 2-d image. YOU are filling in all the details in your mind. There is no depth to the picture, but you are creating it depending on how you look at it. You can take a screenshot of the image and one person may see the woman looking away, he toes pointing away, and her heel visible. Another person can look at the same image and see the woman looking towards them, their toes pointing at them, and her heel isn't visible. Think about it. Let that marinate around in your head for a while. If you still can't figure it out and need more help, I will take a screenshot of the woman and show how she can be looking in two different directions depending on your perception.
It was answered by someone earlier in this thread: Take a long look at the static image cavevato posted. She's either facing you with her left leg extended....or she's facing away from you with her right leg extended.
I FINALLY got it. This is truely trippy indeed. I've been trying since last night, but now I can change it at will. Scientifically, I think this has something to do with the natural sampling rate of the human eye vs. the rate of that gif. image, and how the brain processes the signal recieved from the eye. It's similar to when you look at the wheel of a car go so fast that it almost seems like it is in slow motion. This is due to the sampling rate of your eye cannot keep up with the speed of the motion of the car wheel.
Im strictly talking about the moving image...based on her breasts and pony tail, there is no denying her left leg and right leg. Im saying that image changes. And Im correct.
Haha, because I seriously need an answer to it...or I might jump out my 2nd story window. And that would hurt.
I kind of guessed that. /ass Also I used her boobs as reference for spinning CW and CCW and it turns out my mind is tricked into thinking she's facing me when the opposite spin direction she's turned away from me. So my mind drew in the blanks of her cleavage when she's "facing you" because the frames before and after had cleavage. Not sure if anyone gets what I'm trying to say.. Save the gif and open it as a pic
Well, considering that the red lines overlap the black lines (i.e. creation of depth) wouldn't that be a forgone conclusion?
