This gives me the feel of the Bobby Jackson/ Mike Bibby combo, they appear interchangeable.

Hopefully we will see great things from this duo

How ironic that with Yao the slowest NBA guy in past decade on the team, rather than dynamic scoring champ wing player McGrady that the Rockets can still improve their transition offense.

Slow guy willing to run >> Quick guy unwilling to run.

Close if Lowry develops the outside shot but our duo will need to do a better job with defending the pick-n-roll as JJ Barea was torching us 5/6 from 3, his shooting was ridiculous, luckily he missed the last one for us to close it out.

    Go Rockets!!!

I still can't see why we don't use Deke more. He seems ageless as in whenever he gets in the game, even if it's only been a few minutes this season, he instantly becomes the best rebounder and shotblocker on the court.

And don't rebounds and shotblocks often lead to transition opportunities? I know Deke can't run but isn't he one of the best at blocking a shot then getting possession. I often hear analysts talk about a center not having to be able to run in order to get transition baskets. I don't see why we can't use Deke with that second unit to block shots and collect boards then throw an outlet pass to Lowry, Brooks, Wafer, etc...

Its funny cause everyone says yao is the reason rox arent a running team. but the centers job is the rebound and outlet. What center consistently finishes fast breaks? Its all on the wings and guards to get a running game going. Bucher used to say that the reason rox dont run is simply because of Tracy

I expect high turnover totals for the next few games...

I hear you. It was our backcourt players and wings that kept us from running more so than Yao. Yao (and Deke) could not only kick start transition plays with boards and blocks but it would even save Yao some energy at times. Sure, he'd have to run about halfway up court then turn right back around if we score but at least he wouldn't have to run all the way up the court, fight for position then run all the way back on some of those plays.

I think our best starting 5 right now is...

    Brooks
    Artest
    Battier
    Scola
    Yao

I'm not saying Brooks is better than Lowry, I just think his better outside shooting means he should get the majority of minutes with Yao.

For a different look, we could run more with this group...

    Lowry
    Wafer or Barry
    Artest
    Landry
Deke (boards and blocks and outlet passes)

Even Hayes could trigger some break opportunites with his ability to grab long rebounds and strip players. I definitely think the second unit should run a lot more and that Deke should get an opportunity to trigger a lot of that.

Mutombo's leadership gets further validated if he's actually playing a little too. Say what you want about the effect of veteran locker room presense, but generally the guy players are supposed to look up to helps his position by being on the court like them. Just how it goes. Charlotte might as well just add Jordan on the roster and put a uniform on him to travel with the team.

The 15th spot of every NBA roster should be a long time established vet averaging 5 minutes a MONTH but offers invaluable leadership and guidance.

    Me too.

    I also expect...

the other team's PG to have to work a lot more on defense.

better scoring efficiency from the PG position.

more penetration and either finishing, getting fouled or kicking out to shooters.

our new PG duo to be getting to the line a lot more, particularly Lowry. Brooks hasn't shown to be good at this but even he was getting to the line more than Alston.
