She wasn't in college yet in 2001. But, those were the wheels she had on her car. Man, those were some beautiful stock wheels, the aluminum finish on them were sweet
Yeah, but the 9sp in the TLX isn't an Acura transmission. I considered not buying it because of Acura's history with transmissions. I figured since ZF was building it, I'd stand a chance. I also lucked out and didn't have issues with the transmission in the '04 TL like others had. I also read reviews about Land Rover and Chrysler having issues with it before the TLX's release and said "well, yeah... pssh... that's Land Rover and Chrysler - they're built to fail at least once a year. lol." Ah well. It's the only reason I'm trying my best to make sure my next vehicle won't be an Acura. Now if Lexus could hire some Audi designers or something, I'd probably go get one of those. lol.
Well..hate to break the news to ya but it doesn't get any better. I have a 2017 MDX with a ZF 9 speed and it jerks like no other. Prior to that, many moons ago, I had a 2000 Honda Prelude, brand new, with at-that-time new sportshift automatic that had to get replaced by Honda because it started slipping. An ex of mine had a 2003 TL that needed two transmission swaps and she bought hers brand new as well. I'm on the MDX forum and the 2022 is having the same jerks as my 2017.
I had a friend in college back in the late '80's with an Integra and we all gave him grief saying he was loaded (his father was). That car was awesome for its day, though. The Integra and Legend are going to be classics. I hope they bring the Legend out. But Acura ain't what it used to be back in the day. With the Legend, Integra, and NSX, they were cutting edge in tech and design. Now they're like Japanese Buicks or something, though they're trying to kick that image.
Yup. They never fully kicked the jerky transmission issues even with the ZF9's, but I stopped following it once they switched to their own 10sp transmissions in the MDX. By that point, I had had enough of Acura. lol. My alternative right now is the Genesis line. I can even look past that gaping maw-of-an-Audi-like grille, but I don't trust their longevity yet.
it's a shame Toyota/Lexus had hit the snooze button on their vehicle lineup for about a decade now. I remember test driving a GX470 and thought I was in a time machine because the interior was super dated.
My parents cosigned on my new Integra in 1997 but I ended up paying it off myself through weekend/summer jobs in HS and first few years of college. I was blessed that my parents paid my college so my jobs were just to pay my car and other expenses.
Tomorrow or Wednesday the new Nissan Z will be officially introduced. I had a new 370z for a few years. I may have to do some really hard talking myself out of getting one of these new ones these next few years. From what I have seen I think I really like it. Although it has only been seen in yellow “””puke””” and may have a few changes still.
Acura needs to understand why it got popular in the first place. the near luxury to compete with lexus and the people who want a tuner car with some luxury amenities everyone in high school and college back in the day wanted an integra over a mustang or camaro
The ILX is like a small Buick in comparison to RSX / Integra. Acura has been headed in the right direction right now with the new TLX Type S. With BMW's looking extremely hideous and loosing huge market share of the luxury segment right now, the time is right for Acura to pounce. Wonder if it would be good or bad if they went all electric for the new Integra? I would prefer a 6 speed manual, so I gotta go gas
Actually, Acura got popular before Lexus since they came out years before Lexus. They were battling the Germans and had better tech at a better price-point and was also waaaay more reliable because.... Honda. It was Toyota and Nissan that looked at Honda/Acura and said "hey, that's a pretty good idea". Nowadays nobody creates any kind of tunes for Acura since they're kind of boring vehicles for the most part. It's kind of like Buick saying "we used to have I've only been sort of following the Type S, but I think Acura is pretty much satisfied being a Japanese Buick with maybe some performance thrown in. They have a price-point they want to fit into without having to go for a true performance division for the few people that want that. To make things worse, sedans are a dying breed and everybody wants to drive an SUV/Crossover/Station wagon or whatever they're calling them these days. I have no idea about the Integra electric, but I doubt it. Honda already has an agreement with GM for GM to build a couple of EVs for them in the next couple of years from what I recall. One will be a Honda and another will be an Acura. I think both are supposed to be SUVs. Pretty soon, you won't know wth you're driving. You'll be driving your Mexican- or American-made Honda/Acura thanks to GM.
