I went the first 7 years of it's existance, it used to be more crazy, but now is more commercial. It is still a great time, but the key is going with a good group of people. DD
Right up 1774 @ 105, there is a beautiful place called Bluebonnet Country Club. I use to play there all the time. Great course, great scenery and pretty cheap. The best thing is, its not very well known (probably because its out in BFE), so there is never a backup. Went I pick my golf habit back up, Ill meet ya up there one day.
yeah, at their web site, it shows their attendence for the past few years, last year 235,000 @ $21 a pop, and your talking close to $5 million in revenue in ticket sales alone.. add the beer, food, goods being sold.. lots of money being made wish it was me!
Never met the crazy owner. Most of the "Entertainers/Vendors" are kinda hippie people who go from fest to fest peddling their goods. Ahhh yes the gypsies. One year well past closing time I was hanging out at this scottish drum circle where people were dancing. A beautiful gypsie pulled me into the circle and we danced. Later we "danced" in my old vw bus camper. I don't think there were 2 words spoken between us, but it was one of the most passionate nights I've ever experienced. Of course this was one experience out of a hundred times I've been out there. Years ago there was also once a belly dancer I had a thing for but I could never close the deal.
We went and camped there a couple of years ago. The cool thing was watching the carnies play with their glowsticks and fireballs (chains, poles, sticks, etc) at night. They put on a hell of a show - especially the one chick who kept falling out of her top during her turn dancing with the fire balls. I'd like to go up there again this year - don't know if my wife is going to want to go or not.
The only bad thing about RenFest are the 300 pound chicks wearing nothing but leather skirts and chainmail tops with no underwear...
I've been there once. I enjoyed it my one time there. I went there in 1999. I went with my sister and her friends. It was damn expensive. 18 bucks for a ticket, I think. And then a **** load more for a turkey leg, and funnel cake, and other crap like that. My favorite things were the huge breast these ladies had. I liked it when the workers broke out of charecter. That is always fun. I wanted some chicken on a stick thing, and she didn't speak in her 15th century garble. She justs busts out with, it's gonna be 4.50, or whatever the chicken on a stick costs. I like checking out the freaks out there. I like checking out the gothic hotties out there. I want to see a brother out there. I'd like to see one Asian Brother out there. I don't know why, but we had to stay and watch the glass blowing. I thought that was dumb. What am i suppose to do with blown glass? I wanted to throw tomatoes at that one guy. But it was too damn expensive. That is all I remember. I hope I have time to go again.
How about having a gig and drinking at your house after a day of partying at the RenFest so some of us can wait for teh traffic to die down.
You're probably right. But it's a fun place to go see your local drunk bands. I've slept in the parking lot out there many times. I miss it already.
