I think the best thing Houston should do is wait around and sign someone who will accept less than 15M a year. Everybody is so overpaid right now I"m happy the Rox haven't signed anyone if we use the cap on overpaid players the disparity between the top teams like GSW who have their guys locked down on cheaper contracts will actually be bigger. There's lots of guys on that list I'd like to have at the right price, Luol Deng for example would be really good alongside Harden.
I'd take Al Horford at the max or Ryan Anderson on a sub 20 million deal. If neither of those work out, save the cash for next summer and lock some good defensive role players and shooters on friendlier deals (like Mbah a Moute, James Johnson, Courtney Lee). Hell, I'd take a shot at Big Boban for fun and then sign Aaron Brooks for tradition's sake.
Here's OPs list, disaggregated by position, and with fringe nba players removed. There's not a lot of players left that could crack our starting lineup... which is sad since beverley, capela, dmo, and ariza are still starting. I think we will focus on the stretch 4's (highlighted in RED), and maybe some SF's who can play small-ball-4 (highlighted in BLUE), followed by shooters/playmakers on the wing (highlighted in GREEN) and lastly, former D'Antoni players (highlighted in ORANGE). wow you went to a lot of trouble to make this list. Rep'd! Good job. IMO we should focus on Harkless (rfa) Galloway (RFA) , Mahinmi (if by some miracle he goes for cheap), Bass and Leuer. After Horford ofc.
Center - Horford, Nene, Mahinmi PF - Anderson, David Lee SF - H. Barnes SG - Afflalo, Crabbe PG - Galloway, Chalmers, D-Will
I don't see where Marvin Williams has signed anywhere. Get him, Gordon, Aldrich, and one of those PGs. It'd be something.
This list ends with players with "M" names. Is it possible half of the list is missing? Because there are a few guys who are absent from it I've noticed with names in the latter half of the alphabet.
Still a lot of talent left. If we strike out on AL Horford. We go after Festus but Myers L. Would be my top choice as he can shoot and he's young. I think we'll get Ryan Anderson, but there's still Harrison Barnes who can play the 4 and retain Dmo. Finally we get a pg. Huertas, Jennings, Kirk being my top choices.

No idea why Pau isn't being saught after just as much as Horford. He's better IMO and has more impact on your offense to create. He's aging yes but for whatever reason the guy stays healthy. I don't see why not.
Pau is still goog, but defensively he's miles worse than Horford, especially today that he's forced to play center, he's very old, slow...btw i think he'll end up in SA, just a perfect fit, unless some desperate team throws him a 20x contract.
