Are they in love? Why the clueless idiot coach can play Rockets as his personal toy in such a long time?

Les already committed to saying he'll keep JB until off-season. That basically allows JB to do whatever he wants because he knows he won't be replaced until the season ends.

If Le$ gave up season by hire an incompetent coach, we make no sense to still watch those garbage games.

How could he committed this team to this guy for a season?

JBB did awful job as defensive coach of Rockets.

Daryl Morey appointment as coach possibly can't possibly think outside the box if his life depended on it at the moment. He seems to not know how to coach in the moment, and possibly relies heavily on pregame preparation, and struggles to make in game adjustments that deviate from the pregame plan during the actual game.

So I noticed that whenever DMo is on the court, opponent PF is ALWAYS standing at the corner, behind three point line on offense. ALWAYS. And DMo is always guarding them the same way - standing one leg in painted area. When last night Brewer came in 8:00 in first Q, then went to bench for a brief minute at 9:00 in second Q, I was shocked how invisible he was. I was only watching his movement for those 11 minutes of game time, he'd go on offense, stand behind three, not get the ball, run back. Repeat. He literally did nothing in that span, his statistical line was probably all 0-0-0-0-0. But that's not the point, point is he did same things what DMo does on defense, only less. He'd also stand one leg in the paint when opposite PF would stand in corner three, so that makes me think it's the way Rockets want our PFs to play defense and it's not on DMo that he can't make it in time to cover corner 3. Also, Clippers PF, who would do nothing but stand at corner 3 when DMo is on court, immediately stopped doing that whenever Brewer or Beasley started guarding them. They'd move more to the top of the arc, get inside the arc, borderline posting in the paint position. It's crazy how much spot on adjustments Clippers did, while Rockets keep running same nonsense over and over again, no matter the circumstances. It looks like only adjustments this coaching staff can make is to firstly, sub DMo out. Go small. Then go smaller.
Really don't understand why is Brewer in the rotation.

I turned off my PC and went to sleep 4 minutes in the 3rd. After all it was 5:30AM.

I remember reading somewhere that Morey doesnt think the coach is all that important, or something like that.

    So there.

DMo sucks bro. Bad rotations in all, the him replacing DMo was NOT one of them. The REAL question is why isn't Montrez getting more minutes?

I can only imagine Les somewhat gave up on the season when they decided to fire McHale and they were keeping an eye towards this off-season with the increase in the cap.
Several of the ex coaches like Brooks and Thibs openly said they were taking the year off. So assuming Les/Morey had these or other guys in mind, putting JB in for the season makes sense. And even more should a top free agent ie Durant want input on a coach.
And many coaches have openly said they wouldn't take on a team mid season because they'd want time to bring in their own coaching staff, make their own trades, instill their own plays which takes time.
So I'm optimistic that the offseason will bring change - and it can't come soon enough.

Les clearly doesn't know much about basketball and less about coaching. When he saw how poorly the Rockets played at the beginning of the season, he immediately wanted McHale gone without thinking of a proper replacement. He tried to use scare tactics proclaiming something along the lines of, "no one is safe if they don't play with effort". An empty threat, seeing as all these players already got paid big money. He then said he and Morey believes in JB will turn the boat around so he will be the coach until the end of the season.

Basically, Les gave up on the team when he threw a fit that resulted in McHale's firing. Morey's also convinced him that we're going to sign Kevin Durant in the off-season. If he fails, Morey will likely be canned by Les and we're probably going into full rebuild.
