I hope Joey Crawford calls every Rox-Spurs game from here to eternity.

F that.. i'm worried about if the rockets face the mavs in round 2..

imagine.. i have so much confidence in the rocket's ability to beat the mavs. and i think they can do it easily..

but what no one realizes or considers is that the refs play an immensely integral role in whether or not we beat them or not.

3-4 calls like today's against the spurs can equal a 10-15 point differential in outcome. So basically, because i'm cynical, i think the rockets would lose in the second round, not because of skill, but b/c the refs ALWAYS call in favor of the NBA M-yf-AV's..

otherwise, the rocket's would whoop them, and i am very confident in saying that. put in college refs and we win .. put in refs who don't know who dirk or jason terry, or cuban is, and we WIN!!

Did skip steal your girl?...have his way with your mom?...only you could find a way to take a shot at the man in a thread devoted to the officiating in a spurs/mavs game...all of this after he's averaged 20 on 50% shooting with 6 assists in the last three games...like jvg would say, if you've got a problem with skips play lately...you've got a problem.

He "conveniently" retired. That's one thing about the NBA I can't stand. Criticiscm of refs. I can understand it in a way when it comes to whiners like Cuban, but when they screw up, you rarely see them disciplined.

In fact of all the major sports, the NBA refs are given, I believe, extra special deference. They should be held equally accountable for their mistakes just like everyone else on the court.

i think that what joey crawford did was complete BS. he T'd up a guy for complaining to his teammates while he was on the bench then threw him out for laughing. what's the NBA coming to? i agree with the poster who suggested that crawford be suspended. refs should not have so much power that they can toss out a guy for what they perceive is a slight against them, even if it was just the guy laughing, on the ****ing bench! it was a ridiculous sequence of horrible and biased officiating, makes me wonder why a guy like crawford is still an NBA ref. normally, i would cheer when given news that duncan had been thrown out of a game, but that horrible bias for the mavs is just f'in ridiculous.

why ? he's probably start making up foul calls on the rocket's just to EVEN things out.. i mean, that's the way the NBA is now right?

I played that sequence back several times since I simply couldn't believe what I was seeing. First, that was NOT a hooking foul of any kind on Duncan. He barely brushes his off the ball elbow across the defenders jersey. Virtually NO contact, and certainly not a hook or push off to get space.

He goes to the bench after his typically "I'm aghast that you called a foul on me?" Joey Crawford T's him up twice while he is on the bench. Throws the Spurs' main guy out of the gym in a critical game for virtually no justifiable reason. Someone pointed out the race for second seed and the importance of this game. Don't kid yourself, the refs are VERY WELL AWARE of that fact.

Bottom line, I agree with the poster that said Crawford should be suspended. He's always been unfair to the Rockets in my opinion, this episode way too clearly shows that some ref's emotions and prejudices determine their calls. The NBA simply cannot allow that perception to go unchallenged and hence Crawford cannot escape being punished somehow.

isn't crawford the one who rejected francis in utah? if my memory stands me right, francis didn't even touch stockton at all, and gets a techinical. he has balls to still ref the nba.

Oh how I wish the Rockets were in the Spurs bracket so you could witness the most crybaby team in the league. Obviously the refs have had enough of the Spurs constant crying.

We are in the Spurs bracket. It's called the Western Conference. And yes, we know the Spurs cry, but the ejection of Duncan was freaking ridiculous and un-called for by an official who has way to big an ego.

I watched it, and it was unbelievable. Joe Crawford leads the pack when it comes to megalomaniac refs. Not "bad" refs. Refs that need the light on them. Crawford loves the 30 sec theatrics (quadruple-blowing the whistle while making huge arm windmills) to call an out of bounds or offensive fouls. Very seriuously, he has "look at me" routines that he is compelled to do half the time he makes a call.

He's also there with Jack Nies as the two guys you can also be certain to call no less than 3 techs in a game. Power issues - this case being a great example. Duncan in no way shape or form was showing him up - he was on the bench sitting where less than 1% of the arena could see him and didn't not say a single word. He, along with the rest of the bench cracked up at yet another bad call in a game full of bad calls and Joe hit him with the second tech.

Joey Crawford will literally start stuff with players if they give him lip and look for a reason to slap a tech on them. He has to prove how powerful he is. A ref needs to be able to let things go and not listen to 95% of the obligatory yapping sent their way during game. I say this having worked as one in college. As long as no one's crossing a line, you don't pay attention to it. Joey Crawford will stare down players, daring them to react to a whistle - especially if they have a history or the player's been jawing.

I've got no problem saying it - Joey Crawford should be suspended for what he did today. If I'm the Spurs, I file a complaint immediately. Neither technical was warranted. And I loved how they put the icing on it by calling an illegal screen on Oberto just a couple series later when Josh Howard nailed him with an absolute kamikaze attack.

    Shameful reffing.

Although Duncan whines a lot in all his games, this call is beyond rediculous.

NBA just gives the refs too much previlige, and so-called zero tolerance policy is a joke. Come on, here is United States, not North Korea.

I have 10 dollars says Crawford won't be punished.. and not just because he's an old, caucasian man.

    What's with this crap?

Now the 2nd call was a bad one? Oberto was CLEARLY moving into Howard and hacked him on the arm on the call which preceded Tech #2 for Duncan.

Duncan probably thought the Bowen kick to Szerbiak's face shouldnt have been a foul either.

    What a great day.....

-The Rockets look like they get a freebee tomorrow.

-Crawford looks like a idiot and the event will bring great media attention to playoff refing without costing a team a playoff game--the NBA will be on better behavior for the Rockets at Mavs series (better for someone else to draw attention to even officiating than you, remember the JVG "league official leak" fiasco).

-NBA officials do stick together, so TD and the Spurs will get nowhere whining about what is done is done.

These events really were good for the Rockets and Suns, and I think just extra baggage for the Mavs & Spurs. The Mavs by beating the Spurs likely set up a fresher Rockets team versus them in round 2, and more watchfull eyes for refing BS.

And the Spurs were playing real well. By chance we play them they will have one tough road: a Denver team playing its best ball, and versus now a well rested Phx at Phx (they will absolutely tear through a weary Lakers squad).

Dude either you are completely blind or completely oblivious to what NBA rules are.

Oberto was as still as I have ever seen a pick set in over 27 years of watching NBA ball. He set one hell of a pick. Howard released frustration and blew into Oberto. Then got knocked on his ass. If anything, not only did Howard foul Omberto, he committed a flagrant foul by raising his arms and trying to punish Omberto's face.

Dude you are a farce. That sequence was an absolute joke. To include the whistles they gave Devin Harris.
