No we don't need Tracy McGrady - we need to continue developing the caliber of our current roster and figure how best to use them. I'd take Yao over Tracy any day.

If you look at our season so far, I'd say we're playing well above expectations. Don't get caught up in this loss to Dallas (ack just made myself throw up a little).

We knew coming into this there would heartache losses and blowouts. Some even predicted a 30-50 type season. What we didn't expect to see what when this team is revving on all cylinders (balanced scoring), they can roll with the best teams and beat them. So the potential is there and needs to be developed. I see a good chemistry forming and could be exciting to see come mid-season.

    Shut up about Tracy already.

Obviously we are in a period of transition.

Tracy is probably going to be traded soon.......perhaps later Yao.

The organization has guys developing chemistry....Many of these players are just starting to figure out what their upside is in the league..what they can do.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if some others are being moved.

I love the way our team plays but it is a work in progress and could very well eventually yield titles.

For now we have to let things sort themselves out on AND off the court.

    Well said sir, well said.

Everyone else should stop crying like 12 year old twighlight fanatics pining for a sparkly skinned vampire to come save the day. Mac needs to keep to his training and not force himself to a early comeback to apease the crys of his twihard fangirls. He really is no good to the team or himself injured for another season.

Give RocketsRed4 a cookie! He's discovered everything! Someone, please contact Rick Adelman regarding this man's overwhelming IQ about basketball.

The countless number of stupid threads are going up day by day, and most of them by members who joined in 2008-2009. I think we should limit creating threads to the veterans of this website, who, for the most part, own a brain.

How about 2006 or prior? Apparently, the new guys are as dumb as rocks. Sometimes, dumber. While not all of them are ignorant, some just feel like they need to start a thread for everything that comes into mind.

Creating thousands of McGrady threads is not going to make him heal faster or convince the Rockets to let him play.

You can't close a game if your bigs can't get a rebound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NEAvvARppc
The only series he was favored to win, 3 offensive rebounds in the last minute by that time the game was over, but it's mcgrady fault?

True, but McGrady always seems to be the hot topic, so if we didn't have him to bash about, what would become of this board?

    Clever thread.

you could say that "not playing up to potential" and "Tracy McGrady" go hand in hand ...

The matchup issues are temporary in the grand scheme of things. None of us expected the first half of the year to be pretty.

Wins and losses put in context, right now this team's best = McGrady's worst.

[We all know how these seasons end]
'05: McGrady adapting to new team with this starting unit (box score) before Sura/Barry/Wesley/James comes aboard.
'06: McGrady back injury drama, misses half the season. As does Yao. Team plummets into lotto-land
'07: McGrady relatively healthy and drama free, probably his most consistent start-to-finish season with Rockets. Though he did offer arena "depth perception" issues to explain shooting troubles. The Battier for Gay trade was the big topic. And he did have the offensively adept Battier, Chuck Hayes and Rafer now in the starting lineup.
'08: McGrady along with his usual nagging injuries has post-JVG blues and obvious issues adapting to Adelman's style of play.
'09: Goodness. Drama with Artest, terrible defense giving up last second shots to Brandon Roy, multiple injuries, in and out the lineup, locker room tensions, more throwing teammates under the bus, giving up uncontested fast break dunks and just plain giving up. Multiple PR problems along the way.

McGrady in games he actually played still managed a winning record in those games. Equal or better than this team's current record. McGrady's already had plenty dramas and distractions. Desiring him to go back on the court with this team isnt an easy thing to do with him. Time to move forward. He's on a negative downward trend. Still dont totally get how all of a sudden he brings the team down. Last year you can say his attitude finally affected the team. Can also say being only at half-health affected the team.

This isnt McGrady apologist, he's shown a track record with the Rockets of not being a lotto team. If the stated goal is for this team to win games, McGrady W-L and track record doesnt make them a (regular season) loser. Also if its been said a few times the team isnt distracted by McGrady and that they're always focused professionals, how is it then "McGrady is a disruptive cancer".

From the looks of it... I don't think we're going to make .500. Thus, we are not playing up to our potential...

You do realize this is the hardest part of our schedule and arguably the hardest in the league right now.

How exactly do you deduct that we arent going to be a .500 team?

I agree. I wish David Andersen could find the weight room, live there for two years, get in his time machine and travel two years in the past. In the mean time, the team needs a player with a solid consistent mid-range game.

I didn't read the whole thread, and I'm sure someone has already said this

    BUT

How can you say that our players "aren't playing up to their potential"??

We've got a positive win/loss record when everyone said that we were strong contenders for the number 1 lottery pick at the start of the year.

You can't have it both ways.... either they're playing to their potential (and thus winning games)
OR they're not playing to their potential (and losing games)

I'd LOVE to see some of you turkeys as fans of the Wizards. They've got a stacked roster and - oops....

We're a .500 or slightly above .500 team. We just need to face reality, we're not contending this year with or without McGrady. It's as simple as that.
