LOL DD, what does Voldermort stand for? My opinion about T-Mac is he'll be back sometime in January whether he or we likes it or doesn't like it. Microfractive surgery is not a joke and Tracy chose that direction intinitially outside of the franchises wishes. He needs to shutup (which is his biggest problem right now) and wait his time while busting his ass to get ready. He's no longer calling the shots anymore and he's just going to have to deal with it.

Voldermort always gets defeated by Harry Potter. Morey is called the wizard. Morey has defeated T-Mac. Therefore, T-mac is Voldermort.

I just made this all up, because I don't know what he was thinking.

the reason they arent living up their potential is because they won their fisrt couple of games and people hyped them up to be more than what they are. without yao and mcgrady they're a sub .500 team. They're mightly overachieving right now. just enjoy it while it lasts.

Let's see now.....we're missing our two best players, starting a 6'6" center who can't shoot beyond layup range, and have a roster of mostly young role players who are still learning.

With a few exceptions, every game they hustle, scratch, claw and play unselfish team ball. Last night the team with the most talent was sizzling and we laid an egg....it's gonna happen.

Given the givens, this group IS playing up to their potential. They're actually better than I expected. This is a "bridge" year, so don't get too worked up.

You just about described every other team out there minus 'their' creator.

The only thing you didn't describe was the reality setting in. Teams are now seeing who does what on our team while they didn't know before hand.

Lets enjoy the fast pace this year and not have high standards for a team with half its salary and be happy with what they have been doing. Heck, were worse in salary department then the Nets and doing way better!

They are playing to their potential as good players but not superstars. This will get you a .500 record at full potential. Unfufilled potential with these players would give them a .200 record.

If you thought this team had serious potential without Tracy and/or Yao, you were fooling yourself. These games are what I'd expect, from time to time, from a team playing in a league of superstars without a superstar.

The underdog story is fun and cute...the Avis, "we work harder" approach is great. And this team is entertaining within that context.

But stop fooling yourselves with expections and potential for this bunch.

I can't believe I am saying this but I kind of agree. We need to try something. Or were looking at a 500. record.

I'll take the 30 point whoopin we got last night and raise you a 40 point one with Tmac in the line up back in 2005.

First off its still early in the season, Tmac usually took until after the allstar break to get going. Secondly, I don't think anyone expected us to win or blow out all our games especially against a really good revamped mavericks team, when we have more than half of our team, from a dollar value standpoint on the bench, or at home, since he wasn't there last night.

I don't think Tmac is the answer for this team this season, maybe next season if we choose to keep him. The reason I say that is because all the players that have went though the surgery already (i.e. Kenyon Martin, Jason Kidd, Amare), none of these players came back very well from the surgery in their 1st season.

Personally, I like watching this team run up and down the court, even though you want yell at the TV for some of the mistakes they make, but its still better watching 5 guys run and make plays than 4 and 1 jogging down the court.

Yep, that was a thread I started before the pre-season. I also pointed out that the efficacy of Shane and Ariza as defenders would decrease as well for the same reason. For all the perimeter defenders and scrappy hustlemen on the team, we will not be a great defensive team without someone to protect the rim. NBA players are too quick on the perimeter and too adept in the paint to be consistently shut down by "passing lane jumpers" and "charge takers". Ultimately, someone has to at least give opponents pause for thought. Someone has to be able to erase the perimeter mistakes and allow perimeter defenders to play tighter.

I'm not yet sure we have no serious potential without Yao and TMac.

We've had one of, if not, the hardest schedule so far.
We've been in every game (except for these two Mavs games).
And were a relatively new team (at least new roles on the team).

How long we play w/o Yao and TMac, well, thats still up in the air.

He had surgery in July 1 of 2004 and returned in December. His stats for that year were FG% .398 3PT .360, Reb 7.4 , Ast 8.3 , Pts 14.4, which I wouldn't consider not playing very well. Didn't he take the Nets to the semi finals that year as well? Am I missing something?
