This would never be shown ESPN's Sportscenter: Alonzo Mourning gets dunked on frequently since he tries to block every shot, yet ESPN would never say, "Alonzo is morphing into Shawn Bradley before our very eyes", like they do Yao.
if yao was black or even white there wouldn't be 95% of the bullsh!t out there. there's absolutely no reason to hate on yao. he's by all accounts a phenomenal person, a hard-worker, and now one of the best players in the league. he is everything that any sport in the world would and should LOVE to see from one of their stars. espn would easily rather promote ron artest and terrell owens as kid's role models but you know f@#k them. i just can't understand the hatred and i can only look at his obvious racial/cultural differences.

I think it's got a lot to do with ratings. The rockets have poor ratings and that's why ESPN drop 2 of their games.
the defending NBA champs beating a sub - .500 team ... I can't imagine why in the world ESPN would show highlights of Duncan over Yao
1) is would be on sportcenter IF the rox won the game (just think back to... LAST WEEK when Yao was the POTW) 2) When was the last time anyone said Yao was Shawn Bradley... and if they do, they are idiots do you people like ANY media
Not that I get overly concerned with such things as a players color I was wondering if Yao Ming is not white or black what color is he?
actually, i think ESPN picks on Yao b/c he's made them look like a fool. Think about it. They didn't have ANY expectations of him being this good when he was drafted. All the critics were saying he'd be no better than Rik Smits and just another Shawn Bradley. So in order for them to save face, they have to show Yao's lowlights yet ignoring his 27 pts and 12 reb per game he's had since the All Star game.
Ok, all you brilliant basketball fans. If I gave you a highlight reel of T-Mac shooting jump shots or a highlight reel of T-Mac dunking over people, which one would interest you more? Face it. WE are to blame for the way we watch sports. Even in the arena, crossovers, three pointers, dunks, crazy moves...those get the loudest cheers. A 15-foot jumpshot counts the same as a dunk, but that's boring basketball for most people. It's our own fault that ESPN sells the sizzle and not the steak. Otherwise, we'd see routine grounders and three-yard runs in highlight packages instead of grand slams and touchdown passes. Yao is guilty by association because he doesn't moster dunk over people and because, like all big men, he gets dunked on. But, don't blame ESPN exclusively. Because, I'm guessing when they show Nets highlights, you aren't glued to your seat to see Kidd hitting a 12 foot jumper. But, I can guarantee you that most people are dying to see VC slam another one from 2 feet above the rim. Is that ESPN's fault or the people who watch Sportscenter?
^^^true, we want to see dunks and other exciting plays. but, where was Yao's spin moves on the highlight reel. and where's the acknowledgement of Yao's success lately? he's scored 30 points 3 straight times and yet nothing. Shaq goes for 32 for the first time this year (or so it seems) and it's all about his domination.
Don't watch ESPN. I can watch games, why watch ESPN? Hell, I didn't even watch ESPN when I couldn't watch the game yesterday. Other than live games, ESPN is garbage.
ESPN is the worst sport channel in the world. Just let it alone. Nobody is serious about it. let them trash around, and make fun of themself.
