The reason Lin is not consistent? He's just really not that good. He's probably the 20th best starting point guard in the league.
This thread is as dumb as the game threads lately. LOF vs LOH. Even though LOF excuses are annoying the LOH have to be the most annoying because they put everything on Lin as if he is the only player on the team.
Lin sucked in the 1st Q and was big reason why Rox got so behind. Beverly brought so much more in hustle, defense, etc. and Beverly was big part why Rox got back in the game. Harden sucked too tonight and needed to sit some more but Harden and Lin are not in the same category, they're just not. Your stars are gonna be on the floor for the most part unless they are hurt.
One turnover was a clear foul that the refs didn't call...the other two were stupid passes, but he's only 24. Nash used to have a ton of boneheaded passes like that...that's why he was booed for months early in his career. Lin is averaging 2.6TOs for the month, and only had 2.5TOs last month...some times, he just has his moments, but then he get's back to playing well...such is the way of a young PG with 100 games of NBA experience.
So from now on when there is a legitimate complaint about Lin's minutes it has to be LOFs? Look at the thread starter... Unless you believe he is a psychic and predicted Lin would be on the team in 2012 he isn't a LOF.
PG is currently the most talented position in the league, and with the rule changes on the defense, maybe the most valuable position...even if he is the 20th best PG, that would put him around a top 75 overall player.
Yeah, cause games are decided in the first qtr. You probably forgot that some of the other starters werent playing well in the first too. Quit exaggerating, it's not "All" TO's and missed shots. At least, try to be logical.
Seems like Mchale hasn't seen what he needs to see to be able to trust him enough yet. Hope Lin earns that, and that changes, but for now that's how I see it.
Lin needs to play through his mistakes. It shouldn't matter if he is shooting 1-10 with 5 turnovers at the half. We know that Lin can be an legit all-star player when his rhythm is going. Anybody who watches basketball can see that he has the athleticism and, most importantly, the mental component to be a top tier point guard. Beverley, on the other hand, is a sixth-man/fringe starter at best; his ceiling is a Lowry-lite in terms of impact. I understand that Mchale wants to play the better man at the time, but this strategy is extremely detrimental to the development of Lin, who has potential to be the second star on our team. If Harden can have free reign to play through his mistakes, it is a huge mistake to treat Lin as if he is an expendable piece.
You know what's another fun stat? Beverly with a grand total of 1 assist tonight...in 28 mins of play. People seem to have blinders on for Lin + Beverly. Lin sucked the first half. Bev sucked the second half.
Lin has a shorter leash? Too bad, suck it up, and just play better. Thats how you stay on the court, not suck it up the last 3 games.
