And how he's supposed to improve if he never got a fair chance for it. He's young and literary a rookie, but somehow he can't do anything wrong or substitution coming in for him Lin to improve is just too much for Mchale
I also agree with them to a point. Like you said, I believe that Lin should have gotten more burn in the second half because he was playing a lot better than in the first. However, I take issue when the main focus of their arguments become solely about Lin. What's getting lost with all this blaming and deflecting with LOF's/LOH's is that we can't talk about the Rockets as a whole anymore. We should be talking about how Asik wasn't being effective against the front court against the Pacers, how sometimes Harden is shooting way too much, how Parsons is struggling with his shot right now, and how Lin is playing way too erratically lately in one whole conversation as Rockets fans. Instead, we're getting threads like this, Lin this, Lin that. I miss the days when people thought we were going to be the 2nd seed of the Western Conference after taking the Lakers to 7 games, hell I miss the Francis/Cat days.
You know what he can do to keep the coach from benching him? He can play good basketball. I know a lot of you are saying that he needs to play through the mistakes to become a better player but it isn't development time right now. It's near the end of the season and we're fighting for a playoff spot and positioning. If he's playing bad D, missing shots and turning it over, you can't expect the coach to sacrifice the team's success for his development. If it were the pre-season or we were 68-0 he can play the whole game if he wants no matter how bad he's playing but not for this team and not in this situation.
I don't, I happily accept a young exciting young basketball team with a future to expect. You can live in your wutever rock hole and drink rabbit blood.
Part of the problem is that if anyone with a join date after 2012 wants to talk about any issue other than Lin, even independent of Lin like Mchale's coaching (of harden etc) or Harden's defense, or Asik, their posts get dismissed as being LOFs etc. Personally, I think that far too much trolling is allowed on these forums. I guess I'm just too used to the Irish community forums (boards.ie) which really set the gold standard for community moderation. There is no trolling at all and people are required to attack the post and not the poster. There seems to be far too much tolerance for obvious trolls and most game threads and threads on Lin seem to generate into 'You are LOF you are LOH,' back and forth. This constant dismissing of people's opinion because of their join date is a terrible starting point for any kind of constructive discussion. I got tired of this and have minimised my own interaction as a result. I don't know how many moderators there are on here, but I think the forum either needs more community moderators or they need to be more active to encourage healthy discussion and debate.
It's definitely the case that McHale is trusting Lin less than he should. I think we can agree on that pretty confidently. How much less though, that's another story. Maybe only a little.
The reason is that its fairly consistent that when someone posts about how McHale hates Lin, its a poster from 2012 to present. Why do you think that might be? And you talk about obvious trolls? Heh
He's started a full season worth of games. It doesn't matter what mchales motivations are he has to play well. With all the adversity he's put up with over the years this is probably one of the easiest. He's a rotation player now so just gotta step up
Absurd, please explain how the hell Harden got 25% shooting percentage (while bricking 24 times) but somehow manage to stand in the court for 43 minutes. I love Harden like crazy but 43 minutes !!! and shooting 25% !!! that is called TRUST !!! For long run, I must go with players will get the best out of them self when they have the trust from their coach.
All I care about is the Rockets winning! I don't care if Harden sits on the bench and Garcia carries this team! I want a Championship in Houston again and if if Lin or any other player has to sit his butt on the bench to make that happen I'm all for it!
i am a proponent of anyone that gets 3 turnovers in a row should take a breather, but lin came back focused in the 3rd, with only that one drive that he ended up being out of bounds as a mistake. Mchale always talks about the ball getting sticky but does nothing about it. have the balls to bench harden, which mchale is completely referring to as as to why the ball was getting sticky.
Very few people here hate Lin, and if they do they probably joined just to hate on him. A lot of people hate his fans because they're irrational.
Agree with you. But it is never about Lin after a win. Only about Lin after a lost. it is always a chicken and egg problem to say whether LOH or LOF starts it. The reason we have this is because 1 people talks without checking their facts and are not ashame of it. 2 they just come to bash someone to make themselves feel better
How can the coach, or anyone have confidence in him when he has trouble finding it himself? Put yourself in Mchale's shoes. We need the win, we're in a playoff chase. He's not thinking about Jeremy's potential to go off or about any other previous games. He's looking at what is happening there and now. On one hand he's got Beverley who's motor is at 100% every second on the floor on D, not a great facilitator on offense, not a great scorer, but his confidence is sky high and he's attacking every chance he's got. Then he looks back at the bench and sees Lin who's shoulders are slumped, looking either uninterested, uninspired or depressed, for whatever reason-- which makes it even worse if Mchale thinks he's sad because he got benched. Stars are stars b/c they don't sulk or throw in the towel when they're benched. They get pissed, reload, and show coach he dun fked up the next time they hit the floor. You lose faith in someone when they show weakness and low self confidence. And a coach will create distance b/c he can't risk it rubbing off onto other teammates. You instill faith and trust by showing toughness. Same thing goes on the floor. Harden looks to pass and what does he see? Lin standing there, hands not outstretched like he wants the ball. Lack of intensity on his face. Resigned body language. He's probably feeling Jeremy's just gonna dump it back on him or dribble around, burn clock and dish off instead of go hard for a layup. Those nights Lin went off, Harden was more than eager to feed Lin the ball. With all these posts constantly repeating how depressed and how drained of confidence he looks and sounds, I don't understand how some still have yet to connect the dots. Fear of messing up/being benched > confidence hurt > no aggression/defer > little production, benched > fear came true, confidence gone > stuck on the bench. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy. Some of you got it flipped. He doesn't have awesome games b/c coach gives him more PT.. He stays on the floor when he's showing no fear. Remember the Toronto game he was suckin it up in the 4th, but Mchale kept him in the whole quarter. Why? Cuz he wasn't backin down from shi7 and he kept attacking. Some of you guys like eye tests so much, next time before you ask why Bev is playin over Lin, forget who they are and just look at body language and attitude. It ain't that hard to tell which one's gonna get the rock and who's going to ride the pine. Asik is in the same situation, to a lesser extent.
