Yep, you are obviously a much better coach if the (un)lucky bounce, bad call, or inability to get a rebound happens to come in the second or third round instead of the first.

But coaches dictate the style with which the players will make those plays and win those games.

The Rockets are going to be better and they are going to be fun to watch again next season.

Doesn't really matter when it was. If you don't make it to the finals AND win the season is still a failure in my book. All this talk about exiting in the first round, what is really the difference from exiting in the second round or conference finals? You sill lost and did not win it all right? It seems pretty trivial to me.

    is any of this pertinent???

we have t-mac and yao.. not the king's team.. hell, jvg made it to the finals as an 8 seed. should we rethink our decision?

It is a huge difference to make it out of the first round -- are you kidding?

Yeah that's the ONLY difference. The Rockets roster is clearly equal the Kings roster back then

The Kings had more talent top to bottom than the Lakers and lost with home court advantage in 7. The Rockets had less talent than the Jazz and lost in 7. Both teams COULD have won their series, but ultimately didn't and both coaches were eventually fired. In the end neither coach has any titles, and Adelman's Portland and Sacramento teams were both superior to Jeff's Rockets and Knicks roster wise.

We aren't going to turn into the Kings or the Blazers just by hiring their coach, and ultimately those 2 teams were like the Suns now. An entertaining team that dominates the regular season and goes out in the playoffs. I sincerely hope we do improve, but I still contend that roster changes are going to be alot more key than coaching changes.

that's a very dumb statement to make. so losing in the finals is the same as losing in the first round.

we want to see progress. we lost in the first round in 05. we wanted the 2nd round this time. maybe next yr the conf. finals and so on. it shows progress and u want to see progress.

u think the jazz think their season is a failure if they lose now?

again, it's their style of coaching. jeff never seems to care for offense and thinks if u make shots, u should be good.

adelman actually cares for offense and creates plays on offense. but he also cares for defense as u have seen by the other post w/ his defensive efficiencies.

we still have good defensive players so i expect our D to still be top 5. but our offense should be much better. when u have tmac and yao, ur offense should be "unpredictable," not predictable.

The reason was Shaq and Kobe, top 25 players of all time, close enough to their very prime.

We have ONE player that can create his own shot in TMac. How is that going to to make your offense unpredictable... Adelman had better teams than Jeff, that is the bottom line reason those teams offensive efficiencies were better. We'll see how Adelaman does next year. Honestly I expect the team to do roughly the same barring a major roster addition/change. It's the roster and not the coach that is holding us back more than anything. If any of you think we are going to go from first round flame out to favorites to win a title next year with a simple coaching change you are delusional.

JVG has coached 9 full seasons in the NBA. Not once did his team ranked better than 14 in offensive efficiency. Hmm, he must be really unlucky for not landing good offensive players for once in 9 full seasons.
