Not gonna happen. Just don't have the right combo of talent and salary for it to be beneficial to both teams.
Okay, you guys look like you could use some help in acquiring Garnett. So, I'll help you out. No single team is going to be able to trade for Garnett, without gutting their team of most, if not all, of their best talent in order to convince Minnesota to give Garnett up. That means that it'll have to be a multi-team trade. Here's one that I worked up: Houston sends KT/Griffin/Rice to Minnesota. Houston sends Cato/#15 pick to Orlando. Houston sends Moochie/#5 pick to the Clippers. Minnesota sends Garnett to Houston. Minnesota sends Marc Jackson to Orlando. Orlando sends Miller/DeClerq/Buechler to Minnesota. The Clippers send Dooling to Minnesota. The Clippers send the #8 pick to Houston. Minnesota gives up Garnett for a nice young nucleus of KT/Griffin/Miller/Dooling. Buechler's contract ends at the end of the season & DeClerq has a team option for the following year, that Minnesota could decide to not pick up. Rice's $9.6 million contract expires the same year that Garnetts does & will give Minnesota additional cap relief. Minnesota's new look team would be: C: Nesterovic/Woods PF: Griffin/KT/Trent SF: Miller/Smith/Mitchell SG: Szczerbiak/Billups PG: Brandon/Dooling Orlando has come to the conclusion that they need some beef up front. With the return of Hill to full health, Miller becomes redundant & could help them beef up the front line. With the pending retirements of Ewing & Grant, they could acquire Cato(defensive help)/Jackson(low post offensive game & rebounding)/#15 pick in the draft. A combination of the #15 pick & their own #18 pick might allow them to move up into the top 10. The Clippers acquire a very good playmaker in Moochie & move up to the #5 pick, without having to give up Odom. There is a very good possibility that Wagner could be there at #5, if you consider that Ming, JW, Woods, Dunleavy, Wilcox, Butler, & Gooden would be available to the top 4 teams. If all the teams draft in their current order, Golden State & Chicago would choose Ming & JW with the first two picks. The next two are Memphis & Denver. Memphis has a starting PG that they are happy with & I believe that Denver would choose Woods, or a big man, with their pick. Houston gets Garnett, without having to give up Francis or Mobley & still retain a top 10 pick in the draft with which to draft a center. Our new team would be: C: Willis/#8 pick(Borchardt,Tskitshvili, or Marcus?)/Collier PF: Taylor/free agent(Popeye Jones?) SF: Garnett/Nailon? or Walt(Veteran's minimum)/T-Mo SG: Mobley/Torres PG: Francis/Brown If you truely want Garnett, it's going to cost you some serious talent. We could pursue free agents with our mid-level exception to fill in the depth at PF, center, & possibly upgrade the backup guard positions. There are several quality backup players available this year. Here's the link to the available free agents & their free agency status. http://www.realgm.com/src_freeagents.php?year=2002
Dooling, Miller, Buechler, KT, Griffin, Rice for KG? All KG would do is stop the development of the quintuple threat known as Moochie. How is moochie supposed to dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble with KG there? Plus we all know EG will be miles ahead of KG in a few years. I bet by next week he'll be a HOF candidate and in about a month or so he'll have a place in the 50 greatest of all time. Plus, I think the Rockets are giving up too much for KG. I think they should just give up Terrence Morris and MAYBE Glen Rice, and only because I think KG is cool. Dunkings cool too. Get real people. Every team needs to benefit, not just the Rockets.
It would be almost impossible to get them both, and retain Cuttino, Steve Francis, and Eddie Griffin. I wish...
Unfortunately, I know. It's just a dream scenario. The Pistons wouldn't unclamp their mittens from Ben Wallace if we gave them our whole team. And Odom...well, maybe. But it would sure be one hell of a starting lineup.
We could probably make the playoffs with this line-up, but we would have to give up Steve, both picks, Eddie, and Moochie.
WHat you mean to say is, we'd have to give up Cato, Collier, KT, Mo Tay, Griffin, Rice, T-Mo, Torres, Cat, Francis, our 2 picks this year, Chicago obligation, Miami obligation, and Rudy as an assistant? Then you're spot on. LOOOOOOOOOL! What could POSSIBLY net Shaq at this point? There's no one player in the league they would trad Shaq for. Maybe if it were a 3-way, where Lakers receive Iverson, Vince and Antonio Davis. Iverson Kobe Vince Horry Antonio Davis Then maybe.....
