Missed free throws. Plain and simple. I was actually at this one, a rare occasion since I moved to Austin and the abissmal freethrow shooting lost us that game. Period. The amount of free throws that we missed is almost the exact number of points that we were down nearly THE ENTIRE GAME. Sure the defense is lacking at times, sometimes the team looked like they didn't care as much as they should or were tired, and there were a few errant passes that caused our usual number of turnovers, but these guys aren't perfect and we shouldn't expect them to be in such a fast paced game as NBA basketball. However, when you are all alone, with no one in your face and are given a free shot at the basket, there is NO excuse to miss. The foul differential was unreal with the Timberwolves going to the line not even half as often as we did and making damn near every one. The Rockets went to the line around 35 times and made 23. While I know some of you are saying "come on, Fox, that's 66%", Minnesota shot 93% from the stripe. 93%! If we could do that in half of our games we'd be in a lot more close games. These are fundamentals folks and if your fundamentals are weak, so is your entire game. One enjoyable note besides ragging on Bryce the entire game. (Leave me alone, it's not like he could hear me from where I was sitting.) Clutch the Bear in a pink thong, then later getting his ass whipped by a Timberwolve while in his Air Clutch suit. That was classic, I just wish Chuck was still there to kick him around. Which brings me to my last point. (Don't worry it will all be over soon.) What the hell are the people at courtside at the Compaq center for? They don't act like they are there to watch a game. They were sitting on their hands the entire game. If just once we could move the fans from the cheap seats down to the floor and move the people who are just there to be seen before they go out clubbing on Richmond up stairs, maybe we'd have some real electricity in that building. That place was DEAD. If we get a bigger building you'll be able to hear the echoes of real fans screaming during half the game. That's it, I'm done... (for now). - FOX ------------------ The truth is out there.
I got to disagree about the free throw shooting losing the game. I was there too It never looked like the Timberwolves broke a sweat. Whenever we get close, they would slam the door and rebuild the lead. The Rocks would have had to be in the game for their free throw shooting to matter The Timberwolves are definitely getting better as the season goes on and should be a team to watch in the playoffs.
Nope, the reason we lost is because KG plays for the other team! Seriously KG is a great player and if he continues to improve he will be leading the NBA with Duncan & Carter.
I'm not going to disagree with you on the fact that Minnesota is abetter team than we are. Missing that many free throws, however, is unacceptable to me and it should be the same for Rudy. That game should have been a lot closer. ------------------ The truth is out there.
