i'd rather want a consistent offensive post player rather than an inconsistent play maker...who can carry their team...alone!!!
it's not about letting players go...it's about how when one goes down...who response helps the team... analyze, don't criticize!!
tmac is a consistent playmaker. his shooting can be inconsistent, but he always brings the playmaking. and tmac has proven he can carry this team so i don't know what are you talking about? every year yao goes down, the team either plays at the same level or better.
After all, the rockets are built around Yao. I think, now, Yao is ready to carry the team. In fact, he showed that ability last season before he was injured.
i hope so too. we need a dominant yao if we want to go far in the playoffs. we know what we will get from tmac.
We are not going anyway if we depend on Yao or Tmac alone to carry us in the playoffs. We need everyone including the bench to step up if we were to go deep into the playoffs.
lol no offense but that was really stupid, i think what you meant to say was "Inconsistent shooter." Because you are dead wrong about the playmaker part, hes one of the best if not the best at his position.
I think so too, the Rockets seemed to gell best when Yao had to lead the team after Tmac injured his knee or whatever earlier this season. There was more passing and less just standing around and looking at Tmac from everyone else. I remember Battier saying that more passing helped to boost confidence in the players. Plus, I know it's not completely his fault but Tmac-led teams go 0-7 in the first round. No matter what excuse, that is a fact. So I really hope that it won't be "all on Tmac" anymore.
What's your point? Tmac has been the Rockets' captain ever since he got here and the results are first round exits or not making the playoffs all together. It's the results that matter. Yao hasn't had the opportunity and given the time to lead the team by himself, so why not give it a try? I'm a McGrady fan too but I have enough of a life to not be obsessed with or hate a guy who in one year makes more than I will ever see in my life (maybe ). What I said was just my opinion anyway.
tmac has been out enough games the past 4 years for yao to step up and say that is his team. he hasn't done that. last yr when yao had single coverage v. okur, that was his time to prove that was his team with tmac's struggles on the road. he never did that. so yao has had his chances to show this is his team and never stepped up to the plate. last yr v. utah was yao's chance to say i'm the man on this team, not tmac. it never happened.
Last year in the playoffs, Tmac was struggling and you expect Yao to take that time to assert that he's the leader of the team? Becoming the leader of the team is a gradual process. It does not happen DURING a playoff series. Heres an example of the situation you're describing. When Kobe won one of his championships with shaq, shaq was fouled out late in the one of the games. Kobe caught fire and led his team to the win. But the general consensus of tmac fans is that Kobe rode shaq's coattails to his rings. Hypocritical, isnt it? And dont forget that its especially hard for Yao to be the leader when Tmac is telling everyone "its on me." Seriously man...before you post, you need to ask yourself, "self, the stuff i'm writing...does it make sense?"
yao started dominating to end the 05-06 season putting up 28 and 10 or something like that in the last 2 months. he showed superstar potential. we went into that season stating yao is the go-to guy. so when tmac was inconsistent with his scoring, it was time for yao to step up. he had single coverage on him in okur (not multiple defenders like against tmac). he had zero pressure from the media b/c everyone was talking about tmac's failures. everythng was set up for yao to take over and show he was truly a superstar. it never happened. um, kobe admitted recently he was the 2ND GUY on that team during the championship years on national TV to stephen a smith. a "2nd guy" steps up too you know. that's why he's the "2nd guy." so kobe did do his part as the "2nd guy." so kobe admitted he wasn't the catalyst to the rings and admitted shaq was. so no, it's not hypocritical. tmac and yao aren't clear-cut as to who is the first option as compared to shaq and kobe. shaq was the clear-cut main guy on that team. so all i'm saying is when tmac struggled on the road last yr, that was yao's chance to take over. tmac dominated at home, and yao could have dominated on the road.
You pretty much repeated what you wrote in your last post. I dont feel like typing my response again so please read my last post as an answer to this one. One player dominates at home and the other on the road? Clearly you didnt ask yourself whether or not your ideas make sense. How can you expect yao to assert himself as the leader when tmac is telling everyone that "its on me"? in case you didnt get it, thats tmac's way of telling everyone that he's the leader. Btw, you're expecting way too much of Yao if you expect him to pick up the slack everytime tmac plays poorly. Can you name anyone in the history of the NBA who has ever done that?
I love how it's YAO'S TEAM and it's his consistent foundation-esque skillZ (notice the z) that make the Rockets win. But when they lose in the playoffs, it's due to T-Mac and his selfishness, inconsistent playmaking (wha?), his preference of heineken over budweiser (or vice-versa, I kinda forgot), and whatever else there is to blame him for. Point is, blame T-Mac, but blame Yao, too. It's not like Yao turns into Olajuwon in the playoffs. Focal points of the offense shouldn't be stopped by slow-footed, man-purse wearing white boys (Okur, for those who don't know who I'm referring to). I hope he becomes even more dominant in the playoffs than he is in the regular season, cause that's the only way we're going to have a chance.
What are you talking about? He doesn't need to step up and be leader, he just needs to not loose 4 rebounds in a row to boozer. I love Yao but Boozer sat on his face! T-MAC played decent, he didn't do that bad Wacko. Go watch the games over again and compare the 2 players, you logic is idiotic if i may say. You have the mindset on nitpicking anything you can on Tracy no matter what the convo is, that is why it is useless to convince poo poo heads like you. Good day.
the longer this thread lasts and as more and more arguments are presented, the more % yao gains over mcgrady. interesting.
