They rank it as conservative. Bipolar liberal/conservatve rankings like this tend to put Ron Paul and Teddy Keneedy on the same side. Complete folly.
Yes, and I have done so before. The Coburn-Obama transparency act. The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act. The Lugar-Obama initiative. Your welcome.
True conservatives are pissed about it. And the GOP members of Congress who went along with it paid dearly in '06(the amnesty bill is another reason conservative voters stayed home). The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act is the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill(which 80% of the public rejected, BTW). If that's Obama's idea of reaching across the aisle, I'd much rather he remain a Senator where he can do less damage.
But those are facts and TJ was looking for opinion. Besides the Republican Talking Points have been repeated more often than facts; thus, perception becomes reality.
I'm sure there are plenty in Congress who are dissatisfied with Bush's liberalism. I was referring to the public though when I referenced "true conservatives".
Rush Limbaugh's rankings do not count. Besides, I too can rank Obama "the most liberal senator", simply by forgetting to rank some Senators or by setting the most liberal standard to be how Obama voted.
They sure don't vote that way. Thus, the dissatisfied Congressional Conservatives don't walk the talk.
There are no fiscal conservatives in Congress except Ron Paul, that is if you go by their voting and spending record.
It's not an amnesty bill, and you may or may not like it, but that is beside the point. It is an example of Obama working with Senators in bi-partisan fashion.
