If Willis van Devanter was on the Supreme Court now, you'd want to pack that son of a b****'s ass too.
I should hope and pray that we never do have another like FDR, who is reponsible for the Federal Govt. growing ridiculously beyond its Constitutional mandates. He is responsible for the biggest Democratic, vote-buying, permanent fraud known as Social Security. Sure, he may have waged WWII effectively, but on the domestic front, his New Deal did not even turn around the economy. WWII and the industrial buildup did that. But I think Congress needs to find better things to do with their time like finding ways to cut spending and get rid of that awful prescription drug plan rather than worrying about whether or not Reagan should be on a dime. Who cares!
I should hope and pray that we never do have another like FDR, who is reponsible for the Federal Govt. growing ridiculously beyond its Constitutional mandates. He is responsible for the biggest Democratic, vote-buying, permanent fraud known as Social Security. The version of SS that FDR envisioned and created was a relatively small program, I believe. It was all the ridiculous changes over the next 50 years that made it what it is now (sort of like Medicare's new $400B expansion). But I think Congress needs to find better things to do with their time like finding ways to cut spending and get rid of that awful prescription drug plan rather than worrying about whether or not Reagan should be on a dime. Who cares! Agreed!
What's up with that. Why do they need to advertise the fact "It's a 20 dollar bill, it's different, Jackson's head is huge, enjoy.......?"
and thank God they did!!! most of us would never use those new $20's were it not for those ads!!! where am i?
Wow, 30 million on marketing the new bill? Did they think people wouldn't use it? Maybe the US mint could use a budget cut because it seems they have money to burn.
Question: I know it is off topic. .. but what is the OFFICIAL reason Lincoln is face the opposite way of the other people on the coins? Rocket River
He was the one who solved slavery. So they put him on the brown coin facing the other way, signifying treason.
Nancy Reagan opposes replacing FDR with Reagan on dimes Friday, December 5, 2003 ©2003 Associated Press URL: sfgate.com/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2003/12/05/state2136EST0164.DTL (12-05) 18:36 PST LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Nancy Reagan voiced her opposition Friday to an attempt by Republican lawmakers to put Ronald Reagan's likeness on the dime in place of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. "While I can understand the intentions of those seeking to place my husband's face on the dime, I do not support this proposal and I am certain Ronnie would not," the former first lady said in a statement released Friday. "When our country chooses to honor a great President such as Franklin Roosevelt by placing his likeness on our currency, it would be wrong to remove him and replace him with another," she said. "It is my hope that the proposed legislation will be withdrawn." Rep. Mark Souder, R-Ind., introduced the "Ronald Reagan Dime Act," in response to a TV movie depicting a doddering Reagan dominated by his wife. The movie is being aired on Showtime after CBS canceled its plans to air it last month, bowing to pressure from Reagan supporters. Souder, who has called Reagan "the conservative icon," said he has collected 89 co-sponsors for the bill to mint a new dime. Democrats, led by Rep. James McGovern, D-Mass., are equally determined to oppose the bill. McGovern has claimed 80 co-sponsors on his bill affirming Congress' support for keeping Roosevelt on the dime.
"The Lincoln Penny was first issued in 1909 to commemorate Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday. It was the first American coin to bear a president's image on its face. Lincoln is facing to the right because that was the direction he was facing in the photograph Victor David Brenner used to make his bas-relief for the penny. Some of the arguments this coin evoked among Americans are mentioned below." link
