This thread is a moot point and should stop right here and now because the Rockets have completed ther Roster for 2006-2007. Especially where the Power Forward is concerned. Shane Battier 6'8" is going to play the starting Role as Power Forward and Howard and Hayes will play the back up Roles. It also looks like there won't be any additional help for Yao Ming and we will just have to live with a decrepit Mutombo. I really had hoped that there would be a couple of moves to be made but CD/JVG are not even bothered. No effort towards Harrington or Bonzi etc. anyone else for that matter. I think that we can expect a decent performanvce from a healthy Rockets this upcoming season but I would be hesitant to refere to our team as contenders! PS I consider that our Draft Time excuse "WIN NOW" was just a white lie.
Your lack of basketball knowledge is matched only by my grandmother and her "roommates" in the nursing home. I'm sorry to be abusive, but your contributions always involve negativity that has spawned from ignorance. Battier will be a fine power forward. It would be nice if we had KG or TD joining the team with the understanding that they will be in a supporting role, but that isn't going to happen. Battier is a very solid player, even as a 4. He is much better than what I thought we could. Having two players as substantial as Yao and McGrady limit us to role players that nobody would consider quality starters. To be honest, we have no business adding the likes of Battier to that duo. Last season's nightmare has paid off. Expecting someone better than him is just ignorant and ridiculous.
I have a strange feeling Lampe is going to have a break out year because we have such a vacancy at the 4.
Raef Lafrentz + Two 1st Round Picks for Juwan Howard + Bob Sura + trade exception. The Trail Blazers are bleeding money and already have 4 PF's on their teams, so they might just be desperate enough to give this a go. Raef Lafrentz would be the perfect fit for this team. He's a gritty rebounder and a solid defender and three point marksman.
I like the Raed Lafrentz idea. But was thinking of this one instead: Juwan Howard/Luther Head for Raef Lafrentz/Juan Dixon You are right about Portland having too many bigs. lets see, they have Prybilla and Aldridge and possibly Magloire holding at the center position. That can't be good for Lafrentz, he has to be thinking he will be at the end of the bench unless he's traded. But then again his contract is a killer and may be too big of a hit on the salary cap coming from a backup center. If you think about Yao's salary and then Lafrentz salary, thats a lot of money going into our center position. It would be different if Lafrentz was a 4/5 player but he doesn't have the makeup and skill to be a rotating 4/5 player. If we are going to pay that much for that many years it has to be for 4/5 rotation player. thats my thinking on that.
I thought Raef was a 4/5 player. He's listed as a Forward-Center at least. Anyways his contract is ridiculous and we better get something good to make it worth it. In my opinion, our current two-superstar system is too inefficient and expensive. We have ~$35 million hanging around two guys, and that's why we're so injury prone, making us extremely vulnerable and depleting our roster when injury strikes. Trading one star for some solid talents would probably do more good in the long run. It's too bad that right now Mcgrady's value is at an all time low while Yao's at a high, but Yao's probably the guy we want to keep in the long run... With that said how about lets trade Tracy Mcgrady to the Celtics for Delonte West, Gerald Green, Wally World, and Al Jefferson. The Celtics are growing desperate for another superstar entering his prime to play alongside Paul Pierce, who's already in his prime and is hungry for a championship. In return, we get two solid players in West and Wally and two future stars in Al and Gerald.
Posted this nin the other thread, thought I'd put it here as well. JHo and Head for David Lee and Jamal Crawford. Why the hell not tap the knicks while you can. Crawford has a 4 year contract but I've alaways loved the guys versatility. Weak still at PF sometimes but who has all 5 positions stacked in this league...maybe it is all about the system.
They just signed J.Jefferies to the full MLE. Remember, this is Deke and this is the Knicks. And it's pretty safe to assume M.Taylor's expiring get's moved for some help this year. With Steve and Marbury both wanting their PT, I could see them moving Crawford( who has a fairly significant contract for a backup) for Head. Crawford would easily be our starting PG. It's also fair to assume Jefferies will start at the 4 so David Lee should be expendable with all the 4's already on the team. I like the Head + Howard for Crawford + Lee trade. Who wouldn't want Head? sorry, had to do it.
Juwan Howard/Luther Head for Raef Lafrentz/Juan Dixon that trade doesnt work salaries don't match but nice try.......
I just wanted to check with ya, what ya felt about Alvin Williams. I believe he was released by Toronto. I believe he would be a good backup. See ya Rockets Fan for Life
Sarunas Jasikevicius.. I think he would be real nice to add to the Rockets.. dunno who to give up thou.
Saurunas is overpaid at $4 million. His shot is good and so is his passing, but he's too short as a 2 and his defense sucks.
I'm not sure if anyone proposed this, but how about Juwan Howard to the Hawks for Zaza Pachulia? I tried it out on the ESPN trade machine and it worked. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=351~2016&teams=1~10 I'm not sure ATL would accept it, but I think it's an okay trade.
